How did we start?

Dear friend,
I am an English teacher in a secondary school in Turkey. Our city Kocaeli is 90km away from İstanbul. Kocaeli is an industrialized
city but there are a lot of places worth seeing around us. İstanbul is very near so this is a real chance for us.
Let me tell you about my students and the project. I have got 'language Class' students who are learning English as a second
language. They are very eager about the project. We want to learn about other cultures, their lifestyles, customs and language
through this project. The age range of the students is 15-18.
The project is simple: First we will exchange email addresses and students/teachers will send mails to each other to share ideas
about the project. We will also learn about our languages because it will help us when visits are done. The second step is visits.
We intend to be hosted by the partner school and we are going to host you in turn. Visits will be 14 days. During the visits our
students will stay with families. Our project involves some demonstrations in partner's language in class. Sometimes students
will be customers in a restaurant. Useful vocabulary and structures will be given to students, first they will practise this situation
in class and try to dominate it. Then they will practise this in real life, they will go to a real cafe or a restaurant and try to
communicate in partner's language. Examples can be verified by sharing ideas. We think that all the steps can be filmed by
students. It will be fun!
At the end of the visits an e-diary will be prepared in 3 languages. The content of the diary can be developed by the partners.
As you see we thought about the project and we are serious. Moreover we promise hospitality because it is our tradition.

Now we want to know about your school and your city/town as detailed as possible.
We need this information as soon as possible because we are running out of time you know.

Dear Hasene,
we are happy to start working with you on your project. I teach English as a foreign language in a Liceo Scientifico, high secondary school, in Rome, not far from the city centre (15 minutes by the undergrond). The age range of the students is 14 - 18 and the target for the project could be 16-18.
We are ready to start as soon, even next week, if you send me as many details as possible to start with. My idea is to email me some addresses, I'll pass them on to some of my students and they can start having contact with yours. Please list also some topics they can discuss about, after introducing themselves.

We finally completed the form, our headmaster signed it and stamped it. I am going to send it to the National Agency on Monday.
Did you get my message that I sent two days ago? Could you send your form to your National Agency? I couldn't receive a reply from you. You were going to inform your students and the parents about the project, what is their response?
Please infom me as soon as possible. The deadline is 15th February you know.

Dear Elif,
I received your mail with the form and the headmaster will sign it tomorrow so that we can send it to our national agency maximum within Tuesday 12th. as regards the students I haven't spoken with parents yet, but there is no problem about that, we will certainly able to find 20 students out of 150. We will prepare a form to be sent to all families and to be returned to us with clear and detailed answers. I will let you know. I am perfectly confident. The problem was to fill the form, not the students or the teachers to work on the project.

I'm very happy that we both completed our duties in time. I'm going to arrange a meeting for parents on 14th February. I'II try to shape out the list of students as soon as possible according to the replies of the parents. You know I sent you some e-mail addresses of students,they may change after the meeting. But it is not a problem. I'm sure a lot of students would like to join the project. Let's keep in touch and inform each other about every progress we make.

How are things going in Rome?
Here, in Turkey, our schools are going to close for the summer holiday on 13th January. And the three-months long summer holiday will begin. I was hoping that we could match our students in May. They could communicate and learn some little things from each other then. I think we still have a chance to match them. You may think that we're in a hurry here, but we've got only two weeks with students at school, as they don't come to school at the last week.
Can we manage to match them next week? What do you think?
Please write a reply as soon as possible.

bad news from here. As I told you some time ago, after speaking with students, we have made a survey with parents and the answer was: nobody (or, better, just one) agreed about the project. We asked three questions (about joining the project, giving hospitality to foreign students, and agreement without he possibility of hospitality, that would mean to match the student, but looking for other sort of accommodation, at other student's, for example) and the answers were NO! At the first moment I was a little bit disappointed, as I employed long time in preparing it, together with some colleguaes and the Headmaster herself. Soon after I realised that maybe they are not ready yet to join such a kind of project. You should remember it's the first experience in my school. The reasons of this? Who knows, ignorance about the wonderful experience we are proposing, the wish of other destinations, London (SIGH!!!)? Ignorance, and consequently fear about your country? I really do not know, but this is reality, unfortunately.
Thank you for what you have done so far and for your kind help in being my guide.

June is impossible for us as we have the final meetings and
examinations and we are really very much involved with school. My
suggestion remains that we visit you in September, if we have to move
first and you come late October early November. This could be the best
solution for school times and involvements.

Our head master said that 14th of September or after is possible for us to host you, and he wants to know the length of your visit. I haven't replied so far as I was trying, desperately at this stage
to make up the group of students. Unfortunately they are only 13. I
have written to the National agency to ask for more detailed
iformation. They have replied just now saying that we have no grant at
all in case the group il formed by less than 20 students. I am now
totally unable to do anything else to convince students, but mostly
parents to join.

I felt that something was going wrong there and share it with my collegues. According to our previous emails we were planning to form our student group and take Italian language course during the semester holiday. But the bad news from you makes it impossible for now. I'm really sorry.( We can form a group and take a course but we don't want to spend the project money unless we get a positive answer from you. Because if you and us can't put the project in life, we will have to pay the money back.)
How can we help to make the situation better? Was the CD useful? Maybe we can start with matching your 13 students with ours and they can start emailing. And some of the other students may change their minds during the period. Isn't it worth trying!
So if it is suitable for you, send me the e-mail addresses of the students. I will try to match them as soon as possible.

Dear Elif,
unfortunately no news at all. We have now only 13 students. It is
impossible to carry on the project with this number. We have tried to
form a joint group with a school nearby, but the National Agency hasn't
approve our idea. They say 20 students, no one less, from our school
otherwise we have no grant. I have tried with classes again, but no
reply up to now. I know we have the pressure of the time, but, believe
me, there is nothing I can do to front and face the opposition from the
parents. Lack of culture, prejudice, call it as you prefer but I have
no extra weapons to work on this. I am personally disappointed as I
have employed hours and hard work on this, totally useless.

Sorry I couldn't reply earlier. I'm also sorry for your not being able find enough students to participate. Today we talked about this problem and tried to produce solutions. We came up to this point: We can visit you the first and you may try to find students to host us. I'm sure when we visit you, your students will change their minds. We believe that we are going to break the prejudices. Isn't the main idea of all the projects to break the walls?!!!! We WANT to run the project very much, we are ready for it. This is our first experience like you and we don't want it to be thrown into a dustbin. We put a lot of effort on it and moreover we couldn't apply for another project this year as we are running this project with you ( although I found partners for it). So what do you think about my suggestion? We can visit you in early October and hope more students in your school find it interesting and join us. Then you can visit us any time you want.

after a very long period, struggles, optimism alternated to very low
moods, maybe, perhaps, good luck, fingers crossed and what else, we are
getting the necessary number of student to complete the project. This
is only a last minute piece of news, on monday morning I will meet some
other parents, I will doublecheck all the names and appication forms
with my collegue, and then, maybe, perhaps, and and and, I will let you
know.

just 5 minutes ago I was told we have now got 20 students for the
project. It has been a very long, hard, difficult, sometimes almost
impossible work, but now, again 5 minutes ago we got the number. We
will be on holiday for one week from tomorrow. I will meet my collegue
tomorrow morning and we will write back to send all the details.

actually there is no problem about the email addresses, provided I
have some time to double check them before sending the list to you. I
have got some problems with capital/small letters, and you know that
the personal email address must be correctly written. We will be back
to school on Tuesday the 5th of May and maximum in a couple of days
from then I will send you the list of students. What I can now
anticipate is that in the group there are 8 boys and 12 girls. The age
range is 15 (2), 16 (9)-18 years old students. As far as teachers are
concerned there are two female teachers of English, Mrs Maria Bellucci
( who will contact you) and myself and a male teacher. This is all by
now.

You can't imagine how important it is for us to reach this point. Now that we know the number of girls and boys, it is possible for us to form our group. Is it possible for you to send me the ages of the boys and the ages of the girls? If you can do this, we can easily match your students with ours.
Today I told my headmaster and the collegues about your surprising email. We are all very happy and relieved here. One of the collegues from the group is an English teacher like me , and we decided to prepare lessons, activities, visit schedules, etc. (for your visit) as soon as possible. I think we have to start work immediately when we consider that the school finishes in the middle of June.
And finally a big applause for you because you didn't give up and make it happen! Your students will like this experience very much and they will owe that to you.
By the way what are you teaching at your school? I realized that we have been mailing for more than a year and we know hardly anything about each other. Maybe we can write about ourselves and give each other a chance to know not only about ourselves but also about our cultures...What do you think?

It is a nice surprise your coming to Turkey. Have you ever been to İstanbul? I'm sure you'll like it very much. I hope the weather lets you enjoy the city. I would really like to see you,too. It is an incredible chance and I don't want to miss it. At the moment there is a calendar in my hand I only concentrate on the dates. On the 29th May we have a graduation ceremony at school, I have a class of students whom I am responsible for and I have to be with them. We are normally off the school on Saturday and Sunday but I heard that there will be examinations held by the Ministry on these days and I will have a duty in the exams. But tomorrow I will speak to my Headmaster maybe we can find a way. Maybe I can visit you after the exam for a couple of hours, I don't know but I really wish it.
I will let you know as soon as possible.

24 Kasım Anatolian High School was established in 19.09.1994 in Kocaeli/İzmit. The school was small then, an there were 1 head master, 4 teachers and 108 students. On 15.09.1999 the school moved to a new place after the earthquake on 17th August 1999 and it has been the main school building since then. The school takes its name from a very important and widely celebrated day in Turkey: The Teacher’s Day. Every year the Teacher’s Day is celebrated on 24th November throughout Turkey.

The school administration and the teachers give importance to educational levels of students and want them to be not only successful but also well behaving modern teenagers. We also hope that they are going to be open minded and tolerant human beings.

LICEO SCIENTIFICO E. TORRICELLI

The Liceo Scientifico Statale “E. Torricelli” was born 10 years ago with 501 students and it has now almost 900 students, divided into 34 classes, located in two sites. The main school is in Via del forte Braschi, 99 and the “succursale” is situated in Via Federico Borromeo, 67. The name of the school recalls an important mathematician of the first half of the 17th century. It is quite strange the reason why our school got this name. The school was born as the “succursale” of another important Liceo.

When it became independent, thanks to the high number of students it had got, the moment came to choose the name. Our former Headmaster, Mr Alberto Attenni, decided to make a survey among all the people involved: students, teachers, parents and school caretakers, everybody was called to express his/her opinion. So he put a white board in the entrance hall with some name on the top and everybody could tick the one he/she preferred. One day the young daughter of a school caretaker came to school, while she was waiting for her mother to end work, she took a pen and ticked off “Evangelista Torricelli” a lot.
So this one was chosen as the name of the school. It seemed quite strange to most of the people at school because Evangelista Torricelli was not the most popular scientist among students. It happened that Cinzia, this is the name of the school caretaker, was discussing at home with her family about the choice when her daughter suddenly said: ”It was me! I did it. That name had such a few ticks that I added some!” This is not legend, it is pure truth. Since then our school has grown up steadily, thanks to the teachers, most of them have been here for a long time, but above all thanks to the former Headmaster. Unfortunately Mr Attenni decided to retire almost 3 years ago.
Our Liceo is in a very good location for students coming from the north-west suburbs. It has got good transport connections with buses and Battistini underground station is not far away.
Our school is open also in the afternoon (school lessons finish at 2 o’ clock) for extra-curricular school activities but also for activities run by former students of the Liceo (as “Grannies on the Net”, a course of computer science for elderly people of the area) and also run by private companies who use our sport facilities.

Oggi è la giornata dedicate ad Ataturk, cioè l’anniversario della morte di Ataturk un Presidente molto importante per la Turchia. Alle 9.05, nel momento preciso della ricorrenza della sua morte, Burcu ha osservato un minuto di silenzio in suo onore. Dopo colazione siamo usciti per andare in visita ai Musei Vaticani e alla cappella Sistina. Fuori ai musei abbiamo incontrato gli altri studenti italiani e turchi e i relativi insegnanti. Avevamo la visita guidata. Siamo stati divisi in due gruppi, con due guide in lingua inglese. Agli studenti turchi il posto è piaciuto moltissimo. Ed anche a me. E’ veramente straordinario. Nel giardino dei Musei Vaticani tutti gli studenti e gli insegnanti turchi hanno osservato un minuto di silenzio per ricordare insieme il loro presidente. Quando siamo tornati a casa io e mia madre abbiamo dato i nostri regali a Burcu: un astuccio per le penne, un segnalibro e qualcosa di tipicamente italiano come biscotti e passata di pomodoro. La sera abbiamo fatto una bella festa di addio al Crowne Plaza hotel, con tutti i partecipanti al progetto, sia italiani che turchi. Eravamo tutti molto felici perché erano presenti tutte le famiglie ospitanti italiane. Abbiamo cosi avuto la possibilità di incontrare tutti i genitori. Siamo tornati a casa tardi ma molto felici dell’esperienza.

Outside the Museums we met the other Italian and Turkish students and also the Italian and Turkish teachers. We had an interesting guided tour inside, we were divided into two groups and we had two English speaking guides. The Turkish students liked the place very much. So did I. It is really astonishing. In the garden of the Vatican Museums all the Turkish students and teachers had a silent moment to remember their president together. When we came back home my mother and I gave our presents to my friend: a pencil case, a bookmark and something typical Italian like biscuits and tomato sauce.Akşam, projedeki bütün İtalyan ve Türk katılımcılarla güzel bir veda partisi gerçekleştirdik. Everybody was very happy because all the Italian host families were there. So all had the chance to meet the parents. We came back late but all very happy of the experience.

Stamattina abbiamo fatto l’ultima lezione a scuola e abbiamo studiato il vocabolario dello shopping e poi gli studenti turchi hanno imparato le parole di una bellissima canzone italiana “Perdono” di Tiziano ferro. Dopo la scuola, insieme a Marta e Lorenzo siamo andati da Mc Donald’s per il pranzo e poi abbiamo incontrato gli altri studenti a Via Cola di Rienzo per la simulazione nei negozi. Poi abbiamo avuto il resto del pomeriggio libero. Abbiamo mangiato un gelato insieme e poi i nostri amici turchi hanno comprato dei souvenir di Roma per ricordare il loro soggiorno qui ed anche noi abbiamo comprato regali per i nostri partner. Stasera io ho un incontro importante con il mio gruppo di recitazione, devo andare, non posso mancare. Poiché Ece preferisce non venire, forse uscirà con gli altri. Ci rivedremo più tardi a casa.

Tonight I have an important meeting with my actor group, I have to go, I cannot miss it. As my friend prefers not to come, maybe she will go out with the others. We will meet later on at home.

After that we had the remaining part of the afternoon free. All together we had an ice cream and then the Turkish partners bought some souvenirs of Rome to remember their stay here and also some of us bought some presents for their partner. Oggi ci siamo svegliati tardi e senza sveglia perchè è domenica, non abbiamo lezioni né incontri organizzati o programmi. Ognuno stava con la famiglia del suo partner. Noi siamo andati a Formello per una festa di paese, con la mia famiglia, Elif e mia cugina. Abbiamo visitato il luogo, abbiamo assaggiato una gran quantità di tipi di formaggio e poi abbiamo bevuto una cioccolata calda, mentre Elif ha bevuto un cappuccino. Lo ama. Dice che è la migliore bevanda calda italiana. Nel pomeriggio ha cominciato a piovere cosi siamo tornati a casa. Elif ha preparato il caffè e poi ha letto i fondi per prevedere il nostro futuro. E’ una tradizione turca. Mi piace. A cena siamo andate per una pizza a casa di Marta e poi abbiamo visto un film in inglese. So che anche gli altri sono stati fuori con le famiglie. Ad esempio Federica e Ilayda con Asli, Bengi e gli altri sono andati al Parco Leonardo, un grande centro commerciale a metà strada tra Roma e l’aeroporto di Fiumicino, dove hanno incontrato anche Giulia e Duygu. Anche loro hanno mangiato pizza a cena. Apparentemente la pizza è il miglior piatto italiano per i turchi.

She says that it is the best Italian hot drink. In the afternoon it started raining so we came back home. Elif hepimize Türk kahvesi hazırladı ve daha sonra falımıza baktı. It is a Turkish tradition. I like it. For dinner we went for a pizza at Marta's house and then we watched a film in English. I know that also the other students have been out with the families. Oggi ci siamo svegliati presto perchè c’era la visita al sito storico di ostia. Ci siamo incontrati alle 7.30 alla stazione della metropolitana di Battistini. Poi a Piramide abbiamo preso il treno per Ostia. Abbiamo camminato tantissimo! Abbiamo visitato le antiche mura delle ville, il teatro antico, abbiamo spiegato ai nostri amici turchi l’architettura e l’organizzazione della città romana, abbiamo passeggiato lungo il Cardo e il Decumano, le strade più importanti del sito archeologico. Nel pomeriggio siamo tornati a casa, stanchissimi e affamati. Abbiamo cenato a casa con tipi diversi di pasta, anche se i nostri amici turchi preferiscono la pasta con la salsa di pomodoro. Dopo cena siamo usciti per una passeggiata di Roma di notte. Siamo andati a Campo de’ Fiori, abbiamo mostrato ai nostri amici turchi la statua di Giordano Bruno, il filosofo del XVI secolo che fu condannato al rogo per le sue teorie contro la Chiesa Cattolica e il Papa. Abbiamo passeggiato, chiacchierato e trascorso felicemente il tempo insieme.

Oggi a scuola abbiamo avuto una lezione breve e poi alle dodici siamo andati al centro per la simulazione al ristorante. La lezione era sul vocabolario riguardante il cibo. Abbiamo aiutato gli amici turchi a pronunciare le parole con l’accento e la pronuncia corretti e poi abbiamo provato il dialogo per la simulazione al ristorante. Il nome del ristorante è “Life” ed è vicino Piazza di Spagna. Non è stato facile raggiungere il posto in orario perché faceva freddo e pioveva. Siamo stati veramente sfortunati ad andare in giro con il tempo cosi brutto. E’ stato proprio terribile. Abbiamo mangiato la pasta con pomodoro e mozzarella di bufala, carne con verdure grigliate e come dolce potevamo scegliere tra il tiramisù e la cialda con fragole e crema. Io ho scelto il tiramisù che è il mio dolce preferito. Lo adoro! Gli studenti e gli insegnanti turchi amano il cibo italiano, e questo mi fa molto piacere. Dopo pranzo gli studenti italiani più grandi sono dovuti tornare a casa per studiare matematica e gli altri sono andati a visitare alcuni luoghi storici con gli insegnanti italiani e turchi. Poi abbiamo cenato a casa. Più tardi siamo usciti per una passeggiata e una bibita.

I chose tiramisu as it is my favourite dessert.I love it! Turkish students and leaders love Italian food, and I am very happy for that. After lunch the Italian older students had to come back home to study some Maths and the others went for a walk visiting some historical places with the Italian and Turkish students. Then we had dinner at home. Later we went out for a walk and a drink.

Today we got up early, we had breakfast and we dressed formally as we had a meeting at the Turkish Embassy in Rome, I was a little excited, as I had never been to an Embassy before. We were received by Ambassador and by his wife, there were also other people, journalists, photographers. We were with all the teachers of the project and there was also our Headmistress with us. The Ambassador spoke about his job in Rome and his job before coming here. We had also the possibility to ask some questions about his contacts with Turkish people in Rome and abroad, with Italian authorities and politicians. Then he left because he had an important appointment and we remained with his wife and other people there. They offered us some Turkish pastries and drinks. Outside the Embassy all Turkish students and teachers sang the hymn of the independence, I cannot remember the name, but I know that they usually end a party or a celebration singing it.
Türk Büyükelçiliğini ziyaretten sonra yürüyerek Aşk Çeşmesine gittik. Birçok öğrenci çeşmeye bozuk para attı. İnanışa göre eğer çeşmeye para atarsanız, kesinlikle Roma’yı tekrar ziyaret edersiniz! Demek ki bütün Türk öğrenci ve öğretmenler buraya tekrar gelmek istiyor.....Sanırım Roma’yı sevdiler!
We looked for a place for lunch. Some of the students chose Mc Donald’s, some others a Pizzeria. After lunch some of the students went to Hard Rock Café in Via Veneto, just to have a look around or, as Onur and Ulas did, to buy the typical T-shirt.
Öğleden sonra Pantheon’u ziyaret ettik. Öğretmenlerimiz bize bu yapının mimarisini ve tarihini anlattılar. Sonra Navona Meydanına yürüdük. Türk öğrenciler hem burada hem de Pantheonda bulunan çok sayıdaki tarihi ve kültürel esere hayran kaldılar.

After the visit to the Embassy we walked to Fontana di Trevi where a lot of Turkish students threw coins in the fountain. According to a belief if you throw a coin in the fountain you will sure come back to visit Rome. And all the Turkish students and teachers as well would like to come back here. They love Rome!

In the afternoon we went to visit the Pantheon, and our teachers told about its history and architecture. Later we went to walk in Piazza Navona. Also there, as at the Pantheon, the Turkish students were astonished in front of so many cultural and architectural wonderful places.

Stamattina ci siamo alzati presto emozionato perché avevamo un incontro formale con autorità italiane e turche a scuola, ma prima di questo gli studenti turchi hanno fatto la loro seconda lezione di italiano. Per loro è difficile (come è stato per noi imparare un po’ di turco!), ma oggi hanno imparato i numeri e i nomi di alcuni cibi. Dopo la lezione della Prof.ssa Bellucci c’è stato l’incontro ufficiale. Era stata invitata tanta gente: alcuni rappresentanti dell’Ambasciata turca a Roma, Dirigenti Scolastici e insegnanti di altre scuole. Ciò che mi ha reso veramente felice è stato incontrare il nostro vecchio Preside: tutti i miei compagni di classe sono stati felicissimi: gli vogliamo molto bene!

Penso che l’incontro non sia stato molto interessante, non solo per noi, ma anche per i nostri partner turchi. Penso che loro preferiscono uscire e visitare Roma. Dopo l’incontro c’è stato un pranzo buffet. Poi abbiamo avuto un pomeriggio libero e, senza insegnanti, siamo andati in centro. Alcuni studenti sono andati al Parco Leonardo, un nuovo e grande centro commerciale alla periferia di Roma. Alcuni studenti hanno comprato CD e DVD e poi hanno cenato da Burger King. Alcuni hanno preferito andare al centro commerciale della Stazione Termini. Poi siamo tornati a casa per cena. L’ho preparata io ed ho invitato alcune ragazze.

Bu sabah erken kalktık. Çok heyecanlıydık çünkü okulda Türk ve İtalyan yetkililerin katılacağı resmi bir toplantı olacaktı. Ama önce ikinci İtalyanca dersimizi yaptık. İtalyanca öğrenmek onlar için zor ( bizim için de Türkçe öğrenmek zordu!) Bugün rakamları ve bazı yemek isimlerini öğrendiler. Some of us preferred to go to the shopping centre at Termini Station, then we went back home for dinner. I made it and I invited some girls to enjoy it.

It is difficult for them (as it was for us to learn some Turkish!), but today they learned numbers and some food names. After the lesson with our teacher Maria Bellucci there was the official meeting. A lot of people were invited: some representatives of the Embassy of Turkey in Rome, the Headmistresses of other schools, other teachers of our school. What made me really happy was to meet our former schoolmaster: all my classmates were very happy, as we love him so much!

Oggi ci siamo svegliate presto alle 6.30 perché andiamo a visitare il Colosseo. Abbiamo appuntamento alle 7.30 alla stazione della metropolitana di Battistini con la Prof.ssa Bellucci e con il Prof Gomez che sarà la nostra guida. E’ una meravigliosa opportunità visitare questo luogo meraviglioso, ma io sono triste perché piove moltissimo. Cerchiamo di non preoccuparci per questo, ma la seconda visita, i Fori Imperiali, sotto una pioggia incessante, è un vero disastro. Il terreno è inondato ed è persino difficile camminare nel fango e fa anche molto freddo. A pranzo mangiamo panini a Via del Corso e poi giriamo per negozi: il negozio Ferrari, negozi di musica, e cosi via. Le ragazze sono particolarmente felici. Nel pomeriggio con la Prof.ssa Landolfi visitiamo l’Ara Coeli, Piazza di Spagna, Via del Corso, ed altri luoghi importanti. Dopo questo lungo giro mostriamo ai nostri amici turchi i negozi italiani tipici, e loro vorrebbero fermarsi lì per tutto il tempo. Siamo molto stanchi e torniamo a casa. Oggi è il compleanno di Burcu e riceve regali e una torta. Burcu ha perso il suo cellulare stamani e non è sicura se lo ha perso al Colosseo, ne durante il giorno madre di Martina lo ritrova, e quindi è felice perché cosi può ricevere messaggi da genitori e amici. Un gruppo di studenti italiani e turchi si incontrano in pizzeria per festeggiare il compleanno. E’ una buona opportunità per parlare liberamente, divertirsi e stare insieme. Burcu è felicissima.

Bu harika eseri ziyaret etmek büyük bir fırsattı ama çok üzgünüm çünkü çok yağmur yağdı. Yağmura aldırış etmemeye çalıştık ama Fori Imperiali ziyareti yoğun yağmur altında bir eziyete dönüştü. Yerler çamurdu, küçük gölcükler oluşmuştu ve çok soğuktu. In our lunch time we eat our sandwiches in Via del Corso and then we see some shops : Ferrari stores, music store and so on. The girls are very happy for this. In the afternoon with Prof. Giovanna Landolfi we visit Ara Coeli, Piazza di Spagna, Via del Corso and other important places. After this big tour we show our Turkish partners some other Italian shops and they would like to stop there all the time.
We are very tired and so we go home. It is today Burcu’s birthday and she receives presents and a cake. Burcu has lost her mobile in the morning and she is not sure she has lost it at the Colosseum, but during the day Martina’s mother finds it in her luggage, so she is happy, because she can receive all the messages from her family and friends. A group of Turkish and Italian students meet at a Pizzeria to celebrate the new birthday. It is a good chance to talk freely, have fun and stay together. Burcu is very happy.

We can visit this fantastic place, it is a wonderful opportunity, but I am very sad because it is raining very hard. We try not to care about it, but the second visit, the Fori Imperiali, under the pouring rain is a disaster, the grass is flooded, it is even difficult to walk in the mud and it is very cold. In our lunch time we eat our sandwiches in Via del Corso and then we see some shops : Ferrari stores, music store and so on. The girls are very happy for this. Oggi ci siamo svegliati alle 7, abbiamo fatto colazione con latte, marmellata di frutta, marmellata di arance, miele, burro, biscotti e cioccolata. Ai turchi piace la nostra colazione. Poi siamo andati a scuola alle 9.00. Abbiamo fatto la prima lezione di Italiano, con l’alfabeto e i suoni della lingua italiana. Gli studenti turchi conoscevano molte parole, ed altre ne hanno imparato molto bene. Dopo un breve intervallo abbiamo mostrato loro la nostra scuola ed abbiamo chiacchierato un po’.

Sfortunatamente la giornata è molto umida, tanta pioggia e tanto freddo. Abbiamo mangiato i panini che noi avevamo preparato e poi siamo andati all’appuntamento in Piazza San Pietro alle 2.00. Gli studenti turchi hanno fatto tantissime foto e…volevano rimanere lì! Abbiamo visitato la Chiesa e abbiamo risposto a tante domande sulle differenze delle nostre religioni. Quando siamo usciti abbiamo capito che non potevamo andare in giro come avevamo programmato, perché pioveva veramente molto. Cosi gli insegnanti hanno deciso che potevamo tornare a casa. Sulla strada del ritorno ci siamo fermati ad una pizzeria a comprare della pizza perché avevamo molta fame. Ad Asli ed Ece la pizza piace moltissimo. Siamo arrivati a casa alle 7.00 ed abbiamo fatto una doccia. Poi siamo andati a casa di Lorenzo, oggi è il suo compleanno ed abbiamo fatto una festa. Ci siamo divertiti molto, abbiamo mangiato la pasta e poi abbiamo ballato. A mezzanotte siamo tornati a casa.

Bugün 7.00de kalktık ve beraber kahvaltı ettik. Kahvaltıda süt, reçel, marmelat, bal, yağ, bisküvi ve çikolata vardı. Türk arkadaşım buna bayıldı. Sonra 9.00da okula gittik. Okulda ilk İtalyanca dersimizi yaptık. Derste İtalyan alfabesini ve sesleri öğrendik. Arkadaşlarımız birçok İtalyanca kelime biliyorlardı, yenilerini de hemen öğrendiler. After a short break we showed them our school and we spoke about it a little bit.
Unfortunately the day was so wet – a lot of rain, and cold. We had lunch with the sandwiches we had prepared for them and then we went to the meeting point in Saint Peter’s square, at 2 o’ clock. The Turkish students took a lot of photos, and they wanted to remain there... We visited the Church and we answered a lot of questions about the differences of our religions. When we went out we understood we couldn’t go around as planned, because it was raining so much. So the teachers decided we could go back home. On the way back we stopped at a pizzeria to buy some pizza, as we were very hungry. Asli and Ece loved pizza very much. We arrived at home at 7 p.m., and we had a shower. Then we went to Lorenzo’s house, because today it was his birthday and he had his party. We had a great time, we ate pasta, adn we danced. At midnight we went back home.

Today we woke up at 7.00, we had breakfast all together with milk, jam, marmalade, honey butter, biscuits and chocolate. Our Turkish friend loved it . Then, we went to school at 9.00. We had our first Italian lesson, with the Italian alphabet and the sounds of the Italian language. The students knew a lot of words and they learned the new ones very well. After a short break we showed them our school and we spoke about it a little bit.

Unfortunately the day was so wet – a lot of rain, and cold. We had lunch with the sandwiches we had prepared for them and then we went to the meeting point in Saint Peter’s square, at 2 o’ clock. The Turkish students took a lot of photos, and they wanted to remain there... We visited the Church and we answered a lot of questions about the differences of our religions. When we went out we understood we couldn’t go around as planned, because it was raining so much. So the teachers decided we could go back home. On the way back we stopped at a pizzeria to buy some pizza, as we were very hungry. Asli and Ece loved pizza very much. We arrived at home at 7 p.m., and we had a shower. Then we went to Lorenzo’s house, because today it was his birthday and he had his party. We had a great time, we ate pasta, adn we danced. At midnight we went back home.

Stasera arriveranno a Roma tutti i nostri amici e siamo tutti eccitati a rivederli. Arriveranno in aeroporto alle 7 e l’appuntamento per le nostre famiglie per incontrarli è all’Hotel Beethoven, vicinissimo alla nostra scuola, alle 8.

Nel pomeriggio mi sono preparata all’arrivo della mia partner –Burcu! Ho scritto “Hosgelidiniz” su un foglio di carta e l’ho attaccato sulla porta della stanza. Ho aiutato mia madre a preparare la cena, ho riorganizzato la mia stanza ed ho comprato regali per lei.

Poi sono andata a prenderla all’albergo. In macchina abbiamo parlato dei suoi genitori e del lungo viaggio per arrivare. E’ molto stanca. Le ho mostrato la mia casa e Burcu ha detto che è bellissima. Sono felice di questo. Le ho anche mostrato il cane di mio fratello ed ha detto che è troppo grande! Poi Burcu ha dato dei regali a me, a mia madre ed anche qualcosa per la nostra casa – una macchinetta per il caffé turco, una T-shirt molto carina, qualcosa per la tavola e qualcosa per buona fortuna. Tutto riguarda la cultura turca. Dopo abbiamo cenato. A Burcu piace la cucina italiana.

Dopo cena ha usato il mio computer per parlare con suo padre e i suoi amici e per Facebook. Poi siamo andate a letto, stanchissime.

In the evening all our friends are coming to Rome and we are all really excited to see them again. They are getting to the airport at 7 p.m., and our families’ meeting point is at the Hotel Beethoven, very close to our school, at 8 o’clock, to pick them up.
In the afternoon I get ready for my partner’s arrival – she is Burcu! I write ‘Hosgelidiniz’ on a sheet of paper and I put it in front of my room. I help my mum to prepare the dinner, I reorganize my room and I buy presents for her.
Then I go to pick her up at the hotel. In the car we talk about her parents and her very long trip and finally we arrive at home. She is very tired .
Burcu’ya evimizi gezdirdim, çok beğendi, buna çok sevindim. Ona kardeşimin köpeğini gösterdim, ‘çok büyük’ dedi. Sonra Burcu bize hediyeler verdi- Türk kahvesi makinası, güzel bir t-shirt, masa örtüsü ve mavi boncuk ( iyi şans için). Getirdiği bütün hediyeler Türk kültürüyle ilgiliydi. And then we go and have dinner. She likes our food.
After dinner she can use my computer to talk with her father and her friends and to play on facebook...after a while we go to bed, because we are very tired.

All the things are about Turkish culture and then we go and have dinner. She likes our food.

Oh, no! E’ arrivato l’ultimo giorno! Oggi ci siamo alzati alle 07.30 e siamo andati a Nicea con il pullman. E’ una località di interesse storico e la prof.ssa Aysun e il prof Marchionni, entrambi insegnanti di Storia, ci hanno dato utili informazioni sul posto. Abbiamo anche visto un uomo che faceva vasi di ceramica e ha provato anche ad insegnarci come muovere le mani per plasmare un vaso o una ciotola. Naturalmente nessuno di noi è riuscito a farlo! Nel pomeriggio siamo tornati a casa per prepararci per la festa di addio. Si teneva al piano superiore di un albergo di Izmit. Il posto mi è piaciuto moltissimo, specialmente come era stata preparata e decorata la sala. Abbiamo cenato, ma subito è iniziata la musica e, quindi, le danze. Ci siamo divertiti a ballare perché abbiamo coinvolto anche gli insegnanti. Poi sono state consegnate le targhe ricordo agli insegnanti italiani per la partecipazione la progetto. Tutti erano tristi perché siamo arrivati alla fine di questa esperienza,ma eravamo anche felici perché è stata veramente un successo, almeno qui in Turchia.
In attesa di rivedere tutti a Roma.

Olamaz! Son gün geldi!
Bugün 7.30’da kalktık ve otobüsle İznik’e gittik. İznik tarihi bir yer. Tarih öğretmenlerimiz Aysun Hanım ve Bay Marchionni bize İznik’le ilgili çok faydalı bilgiler verdiler. In the afternoon we came back home to get ready for the farewell party. It was on the top floor of a hotel in Izmit. I liked the place very much, especially how was the room prepared and decorated. We had some dinner, but soon the music started a,d so the dances. We enjoyed dancing also because we involved all the teachers. Then all the Italian teachers were given awards for their participation to the project. Everybody was sad because we are at the end of this experience, but also very happy because it has been really successful, at least here in Turkey.
Looking forward to seeing everybody in Italy.

Oggi siamo andati di nuovo a Istanbul. Il viaggio a Istanbul ogni giorno è veramente stancante per tutti noi, anche se siamo sul pullman, è sempre un viaggio lungo e c’è sempre traffico e confusione. Stranissimo, abbiamo visto una marea di autobus che viaggiano con le porte aperte. Questo è impossibile in Italia. L’autista non si muove se le porte non sono chiuse. Oggi abbiamo visitato il Palazzo di Topkapi, è veramente un bel palazzo, con molte cose interessanti da visitare all’interno, e c’è anche un harem. Abbiamo visto una quantità di gioielli fantastici tutti brillanti e luccicanti! Mi ha veramente impressionato.Poi abbiamo visitato due luoghi importanti: Sultan Ahmet e Santa Sofia. Naturalmente quest’ultima è veramente maestosa. Penso che ognuno dovrebbe visitarla. Da sola vale un viaggio a Istanbul.
Il viaggio di ritorno a Izmit è stato molto lungo e stancante poiché c’era un incidente sull’autostrada, cosi siamo arrivati a casa tardi e stanchissimi.

Bugün yine İstanbul’a gittik. Hergün İstanbul’a gitmek çok yorucu. Otobüs güzel ama yol uzun, hep trafik ve karışıklık var. Çok garip, burada kapısı açık giden birçok otobüs gördük. İtalya’da bu mümkün değil. Eğer kapılar kapanmazsa şoför hareket etmez.
Today we visited Topkapi Palace, it is really a nice building, with a lot of interesting places to visit inside, there is also a big harem. We saw a lot of fantastic jewels, everything was shining and brightening! I was really impressed by them. After that we visited two very important places: Sultan Ahmet and Agia Sophia. Of course this latter is really wonderful and impressive. I think that everybody should see it. It alone is worth a visit to Istanbul.
The travel back to Izmit was very slow and tiring, as there was an accident on the motorway, so we arrived home late and very tired.

Today we went to Istanbul again. The journey to Istanbul every day is really tiring for all of us, even if we are on the coach, but it is a long journey as there is always traffic and chaos. It is so strange, we saw a lot of buses travelling with the doors open. It is impossible in Italy. The bus driver does not move in case the doors are not closed.. Today we visited Topkapi Palace, it is really a nice building, with a lot of interesting places to visit inside, there is also a big harem. Oggi ci siamo alzati presto e abbiamo trascorso l’intera giornata a Istanbul. Siamo andati al Grand Bazaar dove, come al solito abbiamo fatto compere ed abbiamo anche fatto la simulazione in un negozio, una breve conversazione tra il proprietario del negozio ed Elena, che fingeva di voler comprare una giacca di pelle, chiedeva il prezzo, una taglia più piccola e cosi via. Solo brevi dialoghi per usare il vocabolario che gli insegnanti turchi ci hanno insegnato e gli studenti turchi ci hanno aiutato ad imparare. La lingua turca non è affatto facile per noi.

Oggi è stato anche il compleanno di Federica e a pranzo ha avuto una speciale torta di compleanno e tutti hanno cantato “Happy Birthday”. Abbiamo anche fatto la simulazione al ristorante, usando le parole adatte e i nomi dei cibi. Dopo pranzo siamo andati in visita al Liceo Italiano di Istanbul, frequentato prevalentemente dai figli delle persone che lavorano qui e dai figli dei diplomatici. E’ una scuola meravigliosa, tutta pulita e ristrutturata, con laboratori ben attrezzati e classi bellissime. Siamo stati accolti dalla Dirigente Scolastica che ha pronunciato parole importanti e significative: “Noi Italiani abbiamo molto da imparare dal popolo turco”. Considero queste parole il riassunto e lo scopo della nostra esperienza qui.

Oggi abbiamo avuto l’ultima lezione di turco e abbiamo anche ricevuto i nostri certificati di partecipazione. Abbiamo anche incontrato un importante rappresentante del Ministero dell’Istruzione. Penso che fosse realmente una persona molto professionale. Ci ha detto tante belle cose del nostro progetto, tra cui che quest’esperienza ci consentirà di crescere moltissimo da un punto di vista culturale e sociale. E’ veramente un punto d’incontro significativo che noi potremmo usare come inizio per una nuova e migliore visione della vita. Poi gli insegnanti turchi ci hanno consegnato i certificati. Abbiamo completato con successo le 16 ore del corso. Provo orgoglio per questo, perché ho imparato molto da questa esperienza. Nel pomeriggio siamo andati a visitare la fabbrica di dolci del Sig Can (Pişmaniye). Penso che tutte le persone lì lavorano sodo, dal momento che producono una quantità di dolci e la temperatura all’interno è molto alta, per la presenza di forni. Per noi questa visita è stata anche divertente perché abbiamo dovuto indossare abiti e cappelli di protezione, eravamo tutti molto ridicoli, abbiamo anche fatto molte foro vestiti in quel modo. Nel pomeriggio c’è stata una partita di calcio Turchia Italia e noi abbiamo assistito alla sconfitta degli italiani, anche se solo per un punto. Siamo stati felici lo stesso, perché ci siamo divertiti un mondo. Abbaimo cenato a casa. Qui sto mangiando troppo. Innanzitutto perchè mi piace la cucina turca, ma soprattutto perchè la madre di Damla è un’ottima cuoca. Devo assolutamente perdere peso quando torno in Italia.

Today we had our last lesson of Turkish language and we received our certificates of attendance. We also met an important representative of the Ministry of Education. I think he is really a good and professional person. He said a lot of nice words to us and to our project, among which that this experience will let us grow very much from a cultural and social point of view. It is a real and significant meeting point, that we should use as a start for a new and better vision of life. Sonra Türk öğretmenler sertifikalarımızı verdi. Çünkü 16 saatlik Türkçe kursunu tamamladık. Çok gururluyum, çünkü bu deneyimden çok şey öğrendim. Öğleden sonra Can Bey’in Pişmaniye fabrikasına gittik. Oradaki işçiler çok çalışıyor, birçok tatlı çeşidi yapıyor.... ve fabrika çok sıcak çünkü içeride fırınlar çalışıyor. For us the visit revealed also funny because we had to wear protective clothes and hats, we were all really ridiculous, and we took a lot of photos of us dressed that way. In the afternoon there was Turkey vs Italy football match, and we watched our Italian friends loosing the match, even for just 1 score. We were happy the same, as we enjoyed very much. We had dinner at home. I am eating too much here. First of all because I like Turkish cuisine, but above all because Damla's mother is a very good cook. I have to loose weight when I go back home.

Stamattina abbiamo fatto la nostra lezione di turco a scuola. Riguardava il cibo e il ristorante, come preparazione della simulazione al ristorante. Abbiamo imparato i nomi dei piatti turchi più tipici e i nostri amici turchi ci hanno dato le ricette di alcuni piatti. Oggi eravamo tutti molto stanchi e la lezione non è stata affatto facile. Subito dopo pranzo alcuni studenti italiani hanno fatto lezione di Letteratura Italiana con la nostra insegnante, poiché i nostri compagni in Italia stanno andando avanti con il programma ufficiale mentre noi siamo qui, e quindi la prof.ssa Tosti ci ha fatto qualche lezione extra. Nel pomeriggio siamo andati al Museo di Izmit. Non è molto grande, ma è stato recentemente ristrutturato ed ora è nuovo e tutto pulito. Abbiamo visto molte cose interessanti degli imperi antichi. Per il tè siamo andati sulla terrazza di un albergo vicino. C’era una vista magnifica. Sulla strada del ritorno alcuni di noi, io, Federica, Arca, Lorenzo, Elzem, Ilayda abbiamo fatto spese come al solito. Io ho comprato due t-shirt e poi abbiamo mangiato qualcosa da Burger King. Per cena io e la famiglia di İlayda siamo andati a casa dei loro vicini di casa, dove abbiamo mangiato “sarma” e “Yayla çobasi”, un ottimo piatto turco. Dopo cena abbiamo ballato moltissimo. E’ tutto molto interessante e divertente.

This morning we had our Turkish lesson at school. It was about food and restaurant, as a preparation for the simulation at the restaurant. We learned the names of the most typical Turkish dishes and our Turkish friends gave us the recipes of some of them. Bugün çok yorulduk,dersler kolay değildi. Soon after lunch time some Italian students had a lesson of Italian with our teacher, as our classmates in Italy are proceeding with the official programme while we are here, so Mrs Tosti gave some extra lesson to us. Öğleden sonra İzmit Müzesini ziyaret ettik. Çok büyük değil ama yeni restore edilmiş ve temiz. We saw a lot of interesting things from the ancient empires. At tea time we went on the roof of a building. There was a wonderful view. On our way back home some of us, Arca, Lorenzo Elzem, Ilayda and myself, did some shopping, as usual. I bought two t-shirts and then we had something at Burger King. Akşam yemeğine İlayda'nın komşusuna gittik. Orada ‘sarma’ ve ‘yayla çobasi’ yedik, Türk yemekleri çok güzel.Yemekten sonra hepimiz dans ettik. It is very interesting and really amusing!

Oggi siamo tornati a scuola, sfortunatamente dopo il weekend inizia sempre una nuova settimana! All’inizio di ogni settimana nel cortile della scuola gli studenti e gli insegnanti cantano insieme l’inno nazionale. Sembra una tradizione strana ai nostri occhi, ma qui è molto diffusa. La nostra lezione di turco oggi ha riguardato l’abbigliamento e i colori. Abbiamo anche imparato a chiedere il prezzo in Turco. Abbiamo anche fatto la simulazione di un dialogo tipico in un negozio. Faremo la simulazione reale a Istanbul. Dopo pranzo gli studenti italiani, con due rappresentanti degli studenti Turchi insieme agli insegnanti, hanno avuto sono stati ricevuti dal sindaco. E’ stato un po’ noioso per noi adolescenti, ma certamente molto interessante da un punto di vista culturale. Poi siamo tornati a scuola e con gli altri siamo andati al bowling, dove abbiamo festeggiato il compleanno di Doğancan con una torta e un regalo. Abbiamo impiegato molto tempo per scegliere il regalo perché era difficile trovare un accordo tra Ulaş e Andrea. Io dovevo tradurre per ognuno di loro! Dopo abbiamo cenato da Mc Donald’s e io ho mangiato molto. Quindi siamo tornati a casa e ho potuto riposare.

Stamattina Elzem e sua madre hanno preparato la tipica colazione turca, con olive, formaggio e verdure. Abbiamo trascorso l’intera giornata con la famiglia turca. Io sono stata con la famiglia del partner di Lorenzo perché sono cari amici della famiglia di elzem. Siamo andati nella loro casa delle vacanze. Abbiamo giocato a “Nomi, cose, città” che in Turco è “isim, sehir”. A pranzo abbiamo fatto un barbecue in giardino. Abbiamo mangiato il kebab turco, molto diverso da quello che in Italia conosciamo come kebab. Delizioso! Abbiamo mangiato molto. Nel pomeriggio siamo andati ad una festa di fidanzamento. E’ stato molto simpatico e interessante per me vedere delle cose cosi insolite per l’Italia. Quando siamo tornati a Izmit abbiamo fatto una lunga passeggiata prima di rientrare. So che anche altri studenti si sono riuniti con partner e le loro famiglie poiché sono tutti buoni amici. So che Martina Bonavita è ritornata a Istanbul con la sua partner. Mi ha detto che ha pranzato in un bar. Era molto emozionata perché dice che qui i bar sono diversi da come sono in Italia, sapete perché? Hanno comodi divani e cuscini. Immaginate la differenza?

This morning Elzem and her mother prepared the typical Turkish breakfast, with olives, cheese, tomatoes and vegetables. We spent the day with the Turkish family. I stayed with Lorenzo’s partner’s family, as they are close friends with Elzem’s. We went to their summer house. We played “Nomi, cose, città”, “names, things, towns”, that is “isim, sehir” in Turkish language. At lunch we had a barbecue in the garden. We had the Turkish kebab, it is different from what we know as kebab in Italy. Delicious! We ate a lot. When we came back to Izmit we had a long walk, before coming back home. I know that also other students have joined other Turkish partners’ families, as their parents are good friends. I know that Martina Bonavita went back to Istanbul with her partner. She told me that they had lunch in a café. Çok heyecanlıydı, çünkü İtalyan kafelerden farklıydılar. Neden, biliyor musunuz? Rahat koltukları ve yastıkları vardı! Can you imagine the difference?

In questi giorni stiamo facendo una quantità di cose indimenticabili. Siamo andati a Istanbul con il Pullman e abbiamo preso un traghetto per fare un giro sul Bosforo. Sulla barca abbiamo festeggiato i 18 anni di Marco, lui non lo sapeva, perché noi gli abbiamo organizzato un a festa a sorpresa, con musica, balli e una torta al cioccolato. E’ molto simpatico che ragazzi di paesi diversi e con tradizioni molto diverse, riescano a comunicare con gli stessi simboli: la musica e il ballo. Oggi abbiamo ballato e cantato molto, sia sulla barca che sul pullman. Abbiamo anche dato a Marco un regalo che gli avevamo comprato in Italia (una cintura che a lui piaceva molto). Ieri Ece aveva preparato per Marco un bellissimo biglietto di auguri, lo ha fatto da sola, disegnando anche il nomignolo di Marco. Quando siamo scesi dalla barca abbiamo avuto un po’ di tempo libero e abbiamo fatto spese. Qui vendono sciarpe molto belle. Ho comprato anche un braccialetto. Quando siamo tornati a Izmit siamo andati da Mc Donald’s per la cena e poi, dopo poco a casa per andare a letto. Eravamo tutti molto stanchi. Istanbul è meravigliosa, ma la strada fatta sul pullman è lunga, bloccati nel traffico e poi a ballare……il turismo stanca!

We also gave Marco a present that we had bought in Italy (a belt that he liked very much). Yesterday Ece prepared for Marco a wonderful birthday card, she personally made it, drawing also his nickname. After getting off from the boat we had some free time, we did some shopping. Here they sell nice scarves. I bought also a bracelet. When we got back to Izmit we went to Mc Donald’s for dinner and then, after a short time, beck home to bed. We were all very tired. İstanbul harika , but it is a long way on the coach, stuck in traffic jam, and then dancing on the bus…. Touring is tiring!

Oggi siamo andati a scuola per la prima volta, siamo arrivati mentre nel cortile della scuola il Preside stava facendo il discorso del mattino a tutti gli studenti riuniti. Ci ha presentato a tutti i presenti ed ha parlato del progetto (il Preside parlava in turco e Bengi mi ha fatto la traduzione in inglese). Tutti gli studenti erano ordinati in file, secondo la classe di appartenenza, mi sembrava un film americano. Non avevo mai visto qualcosa del genere. Poi abbiamo iniziato la nostra lezione di turco. Halime ci ha insegnato alcune parole e espressioni turche di base, per presentarci, per esprimere l’età e cosi via. A pranzo nel ristorante della scuola c’erano tanti genitori che avevano preparato per noi piatti tipici della cucina turca. E’ stata una bella idea pranzare tutti insieme. Nel pomeriggio siamo andati al parco Sapanca, un bel posto con un panorama meraviglioso. In pullman ci siamo divertiti molto a cantare e, sulla strada del ritorno, Aysun, un’insegnante di Storia ha iniziato a cantare e a ballare con noi come un’adolescente in discoteca. E’ stata molto simpatica e io ho ballato con lei come se stessi facendo una lezioni di step in palestra. Non dimenticherò mai quanto sia stato divertente! Ma la parte del giorno che mi è piaciuta di più è stato dopo cena, quando la sorella di Bengi ha montato un telescopio e siamo andati all’ultimo piano per guardare le stelle e il cielo. Lei è interessata all’astronomia e conosce molte cose circa i pianeti, le stelle e le costellazioni. Ha detto anche che con un po’ di fortuna e pazienza stasera avremmo potuto vedere Giove poiché brilla più degli altri pianeti ed è anche in una posizione migliore del solito. Dopo un po’ di tempo ed avere aspettato che alcune nuvole si spostassero, siamo riusciti a vederlo. Ero molto emozionato di vederlo, anche se non molto bene, ma mi è piaciuto molto, anche perché era un’esperienza completamente nuova per me.

Today we went to school for the first time, we arrived while the Headmaster was delivering his morning message to the students gathered in the garden. He introduced us to all people listening to him and talked about the project (he talked in Turkish and Bengi told me that in English). All the students were standing in queues, according to the class they attend, it seemed like an American firlm. I had never seen something like that. Sonra Türkçe dersimize başladık. Halime Öğretmen, bize kendini tanıtma,yaşını söyleme gibi durumlarda kullanacağımız bazı temel Türkçe kelimeleri ve ifadeleri öğretti. Öğle yemeğinde kantinde,bizim için tipik Türk yemeklerinden örnekler hazırlamış olan velilerle birlikteydik.Birlikte yemek yeme iyi fikirdi. Yemekten sonra otobüsle Sapanca’ya gittik.Harika manzarası olan hoş bir yerdi. She said also that probably being lucky and patient tonight we could see Jupiter as it is shining more than other planets and it is also in a better position than usual. After some time and waiting for some clouds to move, we were able to see it, I was very excited to see it, not very well, but I liked it very much, also this was a new experience for me.

Oggi siamo arrivati all’aeroporto di Istanbul alle 5.00 di pomeriggio. Il volo era in ritardo, come al solito. I voli sono sempre in ritardo! All’aeroporto c’erano il Preside della scuola che ci ospita, Elif, l’insegnante coordinatrice dl progetto e una studentessa, Elif Can con suo padre. Hanno offerto fiori meravigliosi ai nostri insegnanti. Il viaggio verso Izmit è stato un po’ lungo in quanto ad un certo punto il pullman ha avuto un problema al motore e abbiamo dovuto aspettare che un altro pullman venisse a prenderci. Quando siamo arrivati a scuola c’erano tutti i nostri partner con i loro genitori ad aspettarci. Per noi è stata un’accoglienza gioiosa e molto calorosa. Siamo andati tutti nel ristorante della scuola e il Preside ha fatto un discorso di benvenuto per noi e di ringraziamento per i genitori e gli insegnanti che hanno reso possibile l’attuazione del progetto. Dopo tutti sono andati a casa dei loro partner. Abbiamo dato i nostri regali poi abbiamo cenato. Io sono stata molto contenta di incontrare Bengi e di avere l’opportunità di sedere con lei su un divano a chiacchierare, come abbiamo sempre chiacchierato in rete. Abbiamo parlato di tante cose, delle nostre famiglie, delle nostre abitudini, delle nostre città e di amicizia.

The journey to Izmit was a bit long because the bus had a problem to the engine and we had to wait some time for another bus to pick us. When we arrived at school all the Tukish partners and their parents were waiting for us. It was a joyful and very warm welcome for us. We went in the school canteen where the Headmaster made a speech to welcome us and to thank the parents and the teachers who made this project come true.Daha sonra herkes kendi arkadaşının evine gitti. Hediyelerimizi verdik ve akşam yemeğini yedik.Bengi ile buluşmuş ve İnternet’te hep yaptığımız gibi, ama bu kez karşılıklı koltukta oturarak sohbet etmiş olduğum için çok mutluydum.Pekçok şeyden, ailelerimizden,alışkanlıklarımızdan,şehirlerimizden ve arkadaşlıklarımızdan söz ettik.

TITLE OF THE PROJECT: Diary Of A Guide In Two Most Ancient Capitals In The World

SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT:

By means of this Project we tried to create cultural awareness among young people. And as this has been a language Project, our aim was to make students use each other’s language while involving in the Project.
The students were in the role of guides when shopping, when eating at a restaurant and when visiting historical places in each other’s country. And the most important thing is that while they were simulating the situations, they used the language of the partner country. And for every day they spent together both in Turkey and in Italy, they kept diaries. That’s why the name of our Project is ‘Diary Of A Guide In Two Most Ancient Capitals In The World’.

The director Mr İspirli made a speech and reminded us our leader Atatürk’s famous quote ‘ Peace at home peace in the world’ and he added that we were the best examples for that quote. The thoughts of the Turkish Project teachers:
The process of the Project gained us great experience and confidence. It has been a great experience because we not only shared a lot of things with our Project partners but also had the opportunity of sharing things with our own collegues and students.
Friendship among the Italian and Turkish students made us very happy.Thanks to this Project, both the teachers and the students were able to share each other’s lives, language and cultures. We learned that although we speak different languages and we are from different cultures, we are not very different from each other. And we believe that the most important thing is : we know that we have real friends in another country now.

The thoughts of the Italian Project teachers:
The coordinator of the Project- 24 Kasım Anadolu Lisesi- hosted us in İzmit from the 1st to the 11th of October 2009. During the stay, we were really very well welcomed by all the Turkish people involved,both the headmaster, the teachers,the students and the host families who were particularly warm and caring with our students.
This Bilateral Comenius Project and the cultural visit to Turkey has given all of us great opportunities not only to visit new and beautiful places, rich of history, but also to share the Turkish family life and above all to meet and work with wonderful people who have always supported us and often have also anticipated and fulfilled the students’ needs and ours as well.
My personal opinion is that we have laid not only the basis of a good professional relationship but mainly of a very good and true friendship.It is the same for the students.

Bugün buradaki son günümüzdü ve Vatikan Müzesi’ne gittik.Rehberimiz bize bazı genel bilgiler verdi.Daha sonra Mısır ve Antik Yunan Müzeleri’ni gezdik.Daha önce hiç bu kadar iyi muhafaza edilmiş bir mumya görmemiştim.

Sonraki durak Raffaello’nun Odaları’ydı.Burada 4 oda vardı ve her duvarda oldukça büyük tasvirler yer alıyordu.

Daha sonra avluya çıktık.Bugün aynı zamanda M.K.Atatürk’ün ölümünün 71.yıldönümüydü.Türkiye’de olmasak bile onun yokluğunu derinden hissettik.Ve onu özlemle andık.Okul müdürümüz onun bizim için önemiyle ilgili bir konuşma yaptı.İsteğimize saygı göstererk, İtalyan öğretmenlerden Giovanna ve İtalyan arkadaşımız Lorenzo bizim için Atatürk’ün küçük fotoğraflarını hazırlamışlar.Bu günün en anlamlı anlarından biriydi.

Son durak Sistina Şapeli’ydi. Burası muhteşem bir yer.Michelangelo tüm hünerini her fırça darbesinde göstermiş. Her duvarda farklı bir resim vardı. Tavanda ise dünyaca ünlü bir tasvir vardı:İsa’nın Yaradılışı.Gerçekten hayret vericiydi.

Bu müze tüm eserleri ve tarihi ile mutlaka görülmesi gereken bir yer.

Eve erken döndük çünkü akşam veda partisi vardı.Aklıma Türkiye’deki parti geldi. O zaman bunu pek önemsememiştik çünü iki hafta sonra Roma’ya gidecektik nasılsa.Ama şimdi arkadaşlarımızla geçirebileceğimiz sadece birkaç saatimiz var.Bunu düşünmek beni oldukça üzdü.

Gece boyunca ertesi günü düşünmemeye çalıştık.Bunun için elimizden geldiğince dans edip , gülüp eğlenmeye çalıştık.

Daha sonra bize sertifikalarımızı verdiler.Öğretmenlerimiz konuşmalarını yaptı. Herkes hislerini paylaşırken ben de bir şeyler söylemek istedim.Onlara Roma’yı ne kadar sevdiğimden,Roma’nın rüyalarımın şehri olduğundan ,burada olmaktan,onlarla tanışmaktan ve kültürlerini tanımakan ne kadar mutluluk duyduğumdan ve sevgili arkadaşlarımdan bahsettim.Ve son olarak orda olmanın benim için ne kadar önemli olduğunu ve yaşadığım hiçbir şeyi unutmayacağımı ekledim.

Partinin sonuna doğru, Ulaş,Hakan ve Onur’un etkileyici performansını dinledik.Herkes iki farklı kültüre ait birçok şarkı söyledi.

Gecenin sonunda,ece ve ben bavullarımızı hazırlarken, buraya iyice alıştığımı farkettim.Roma’da gözlerimi son kez kaparken,böyle şeyleri daha çok yaşamak istedim....Çünkü çok güzeldi.

And we went to the back yard.That days was also 71.st anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s death.Even if we weren’t in Turkey we all felt his absence.And we upbore him. Our headmaster made a speech about his importance.Our Italian teacher Giovanna and our Italian friens Lorenzo had prepared his pictures for us.They paid honor to our request. That moment was one of the most meaningful time of the day.

We went home early. ’Cause there was a farewell party that night. I thought about the previous party in Turkey. In my country, we didn’t cared about much.We were going to Rome 2 weeks later anyhow. But now, we had just a few hours to spend with our friends. Thinking about that made me upset. I would like to live much more things about this experience.

During the night,we tried not to think about the following day.Cause it was the hardest part of that. Therefore, we danced, we laughedand we talked as much as we could.

Then they gave us our certificates.And our teachers made their speeches. While everyone else were saying their feelings, i wanted to do that. I talked about how much i loved Rome, Rome was the city of my dreams, how much i was glad to be there, how much i liked to meet them and learned their cultures and my lovely friends. And i added, it was really important to be in there for me.And i would never forget the things that i had lived there.

That day was the last day and we went to the Vatican Museum. Our guide gave us some general informations.And we saw Egyptian and Ancient Greek Museum.I had never seen the best-protected mummy like this one before. Next stop was Raffaello’s Rooms . There were 4 rooms. And each one had huge portraits on the walls.

The last stop was Sistina Chapel. It was gorgeous. Michelangelo had shown his skill at each brush touch.Every wall had different pictures.The ceiling had one of the world-known portray…. Creation of Jesus. It was amazing. That museum must be seen because it has magnificent opuses and history.

During the night,we tried not to think about the following day.Cause it was the hardest part of that. Therefore, we danced, we laughedand we talked as much as we could.

Then came Ulaş-Hakan-Onur’s impressive performance, everybody in there tried to sing many song which belong 2 different cultures. At the end of the night, while Ece and i were preparing our luggages, i realised that i got used to here very much. And when i closed my eyes for the last time in Rome , i wished living much more things like this.

Cause it was awsome...

Sabah 7'de kalktım. Marta ile biraz gecikmiştik o yüzden hızlı bir kahvaltı edip evden çıktık. Okulda İtalyanca dersimiz vardı. Önce, derste İtalyanca şarkılar söyledik, tabii ki İtalyan dostlarımızın yardımı ile. Arkadaşlarım İlayda ve Onur Tiziano Ferro'nun Perdono adlı eserini söylediler. Kusursuzdular. Ayrıca çok eğlenceliydi. Onları hepimiz alkışladık. Bu derslerin ve şarkıların ortak amacı İtalyancayı daha hızlı öğrenip anlamaktı. Daha sonra, günlüğümüzü tamamlamamız için bize zaman verildi. Okuldan sonra, dışarda yemek yedik. Yemekten sonra, buluşma yerine ulaştık. Buluşmadan sonra ise planlanmış olan alışverişimizi yaptık. İtalyanca alışveriş yaparak pratik yapmış olduk. Oyun gibiydi. Arkadaşımız Pınar Ece kıyafet mağazasında müşteriydi. Daha önce çalıştığımız diyalogları İtalyan bir mağaza asistanı ile uyguladı. Çok başarılıydı. İtalyanca'yı bu şekilde öğrenmek, konuşmak ve uygulamak müthişti. Hepimiz kendimizi çok şanslı hissettik. Günün geri kalanı serbest zamandı. Hep birlikte dolaştık. Biraz alışveriş yaptık ve daha sonra bir cafeye gidip oturduk ve eve döndük. Akşam Marta, Burcu, Oğuzhan, Tiziano, Paolo, Kirem, Francesco ve ben bir kafeye gittik. Orada otururken günlük olaylardan ve eğlenceli şeylerden bahsettik. Çok güldük ve bir sürü fotoğraf çekildik. Ve sonra hep birlikte eve döndük. Süper bir gündü.

I got up at 7 in the morning. But we were a bit late so Marta and I went to school after a quick breakfast. We had an Italian lesson at school. First, we sang Italian songs during the lesson, with some help from our Italian friends. I miei amici Ilayda e Onur hanno cantato “Perdono” di Tiziano Ferro. Sono stati perfetti.Ed e’ stato anche divertente.Tutti li hanno applauditi.La ragione principale di imparare a cantare canzoni e’ di capire e di parlare l ‘italiano piu’ velocemente.E abbiamo cercato di farlo con dele canzoni.Dopo abbiamo avuto del tempo per completare i nostri diari. After lesson, we left school to eat out.We had our lunch and went to the meeting point. Dopo l ‘incontro, siamo entrati in un negozio per realizzare l ‘attivita’ programmata sugli acquisti in un luogo reale; era in Italiano,naturalmente. Era come un gioco.La nostra amica Pınar Ece era una cliente in un negozio di abbigliamento.Lei ha recitato la conversazione che avevamo studiato durante la lezione e ha parlato in Italiano con il commesso del negozio,chiedendogli di una maglietta che voleva comprare.Ha avuto successo nel fare quel dialogo e non e’ stata l ‘unica a farlo.Batuhan, İlayda and Damla also acted out the dialogue. Learning Italian, improving and trying to speak it there was amazing. We all felt lucky as we had that chance. The rest of the day was freetime. In freetime, we hanged out all together. We did some shopping, sat at a café and ate something, finally went back home.In the evening, Marta,Burcu, Oğuzhan, Tiziano, Paolo, Kirem, Francesco and I went to a cafe. While sitting there, we talked about daily facts and funny stuff. We laughed a lot and took lots of photos. Then we all went back home. It was a super day.

After the meeting, we entered a shop to do the planned shopping activity. We practised the shopping activity in a real place, -it was in Italian, of course. It was like a game. Our friend Pınar Ece was a customer in a clothes shop. She acted out the conversation that we studied in the lesson and talked with the shop assistant about a t-shirt she wanted to buy it in Italian language. She was successful in doing such a dialogue.She was not the only one to do it. Batuhan, İlayda and Damla also acted out the dialogue. Bugün serbest günümüzdü. Dün Martina bugün hakkında bir şeylerden bahsetmişti. Duyduğumda çok heyecanlanmıştım. Bugün küçük bir kasaba olan San Martino’ya gittik çünkü orada bir festival vardı. Orada birçok küçük stand vardı, hepsi de farklı şeyler satıyordu. Örneğin bir tanesi peynir standıydı. İtalyan peynirleri olan parmesan ve mozerella satan standlar da vardı.
Baykuşları olan bir adam vardı. İnsanlar onları sevip besleyebiliyorlardı. Baykuşlar çok tatlıydı. - Evet, garip bir durum (: - Martina’nın kuzeni Maria Chiara onları besledi. Ben besleyemedim çünkü biraz korktum. Daha sonra kasabanın etrafında dolaştık. Seramik yapan bir yer gördük. İçeri girdik ve onları izledik. Biz de seramik yapmak için benzer yolları kullanıyorduk. Seramikleri fırınladıklarını söylediler. Meydanda şarkılar çalan müzisyenleri izledik. Kasabada çok eski bir klise vardı. Klisede birçok çozuk vardı. Konuşup resim yapıyorlardı.
Daha sonra Gizem, Marta ve ailesi de bize katıldı. Marta’nın köpeği de .. Çok tatlı bir köpekti. Gizemle fotoğraflar çektik, arkadaşlarımız da bizim fotoğraflarımızı çekti. Sonra Casolina adında küçük bir restoranta gittik. Gnocchi ve bir çeşit et yedik. Çok lezzetlilerdi. Kendi yemeğimi sipariş ettim -tabi ki İtalyanca-. Siparişi verirken kendimi çok iyi hissettim. Bu projeden önce böyle şeyler yapamazdım ama şimdi yapabiliyorum. Bu projede birçok şey öğrendiğim için kendimi çok şanslı hissediyorum. İtalyan kültürü ve dili hakkında çok şey öğrendik.
Standlarda keçeden yapılmış çok güzel eşyalar vardı. Gizem ve ben arkadaşlarımız ve ailelerimiz için hediyeler aldık. Hava serin ve yağmurluydu sonra birden güneş açtı ve gökkuşağı oluştu. (:
Eve geri döndük ve gün hakkında sohbet ettik. Martina’nın ailesine günden çok zevk aldığımı söyledim. Bizim kültürümüzde başkalarında gördüğümüz misafirperverlik karşısında hep bir şeyler yaparız. Bugün bir kez daha Martina ve ailesiyle çok mutlu olduğumu farkettim. Onlar için Türk kahvesi yaptım. Köpüklü oldukları için çok mutlu oldum. (: Kahveyi çok beğendiler. Eğlenmek için Martina’nın kahve falına baktım. Sadece uydurdum ama çok güldük. (:
Akşam Marta’nın evine gittik. Oğuzhan ve Paolo da geldi. Pizza yedik. Pizzalarımızı yerken de yarattığımız bir oyun oynadık. Sonra da film izledik ve sohbet ettik. Geç bir saatte eve döndük... Bugün çok eğlendim, çok güzel bir gündü. İyi geceler günlüğüm. Uyumak istiyorum ve buna gerçekten ihtiyacım var..

Today was our free day. Yesterday Martina had told me some things about today. When I heard, I was really excited. Siamo andati a San Martino, che è un paesino , perché c’era una sagra. C’erano molte bancarelle. Ognuna di loro vendeva qualcosa di diverso. Per esempio, una di loro aveva tipi speciali di formaggio. C’erano anche bancarelle diverse che vendevano formaggio tipico italiano, come parmigiano e mozzarella.
C’era un uomo che aveva dei gufi. La gente poteva dargli da mangiare e accarezzarli. Erano veramente carini. - Yeah, I know that was strange (: - Martina's cousin Maria Chiara fed them. I couldn't because I was afraid - just a litte bit) - After that we walked around the little village. We saw a place which made ceramics. We went into and watched them. They do something similar in my country, too. They told us that they made the ceramics in the oven. Then we watched the people who play some marches in the square. There was a church in the village. It was very old. In the church there were many children. They were drawing and talking to each other. Gizem, Marta and her family joined us (: Also Marta's dog..It's so sweet. We took some photos with Gizem and also our friends took our photos. Dopo siamo andati in un piccolo ristorante che si chiama Casalino. Abbiamo mangiato “Gnocchi” e un tipo di bistecca. Erano deliziosi. E io ho ordinato il mio pranzo da solo, in italiano, naturalmente. Quando l’ho ordinato, mi sono sentito veramente bene. Perché prima di questo progetto non avrei potuto fare qualcosa del genere. Ma ora sì. Penso di essere fortunato perché ho imparato molte cose in questo progetto. Impariamo la loro cultura e la lingua italiana.
There were many sweet things made by emotions. So Gizem and I bought some presents for our friends and families. The weather was rainy and chilly. Then suddenly the sun appeared. Later appeared a rainbow (: Then we came back home. We talked about the day. I told the family that I enyojed it very much ! In our culture we always do something towards the hospitality that we see from others. Today again I noticed that I’m very happy for being with Martina and her family. So I made Turkish coffee for Martina and her family (: I was happy because I made bubbles (: They liked it very much. I read Martina's fortune in her coffee for fun. I only made up and we laughed a lot (: We went to Marta's house at night. Oğuzhan and Paolo came, too.. We ate pizzas. While we were eating, we played a game -which we created- and we had fun (: Then we watched a film and talked to each other. Late at night we returned home. I had fun today.. Good night my diary. Cumartesi günü planı Ostia’ya gitmekti.Sabah 7’de kalktık.Sonra kahvaltı ettik.Bence Salı günü gezimizin en tarihi günüydü.Ostia inanılmaz bir yerdi.Alan çok büyüktü,bu yüzden gezimiz uzun zaman aldı.Ostia geçmişte evleri,bahçeleri,kamu alanları ve tiyatrosuyla büyük bir şehirdi.Biz şuan sadece kalıntıları görebiliyoruz.İnsanların orada yaşayabilmeleri için çok fazla yer var.Bu alanda birçok çam ağacı gördük ve her yer yemyeşildi.İtalyan öğretmenler ve öğrenciler bizlerle Ostia hakkında konuştu.Sonra ailelerimize ve arkadaşlarıma bir şeyler almak için küçük bir hediyelik eşya dükkanına gittik.Arkadaşlarım için birçok kitap ayracı aldım.Geziden sonra bir cafede oturduk.Ve o gün hava güzel olduğu için çok şanslı hissettim.Bugün bizim Roma’da ki ilk güneşli günümüzdü.Çok fazla fotoğraf çektik.Saat 3’te dinlenmek için eve gittik.1 saat uyudum ve daha sonra farklı bir şeyler tatmak için İtalyan restaurantına gittik.İtalyan peynirli bir pizza yedim.İtalyan ve Türk yemekleri çok benzerler,özellikle baharatlarıyla.Ve bu günün son bölümüydü.eve geri döndüğümüzde çok yorgundum bu yüzden uyudum.

On Saturday the plan was going to Ostia. We got up at 7 o’clock then we had breakfast. I think Saturday was the most historical day of our trip. Ostia è un luogo sorprendente.L’area era veramente grande e quindi la nostra visita ha richiesto molto tempo. In passato, Ostia era una grande città, con case, giardini, locali pubblici e un teatro. At 3 o clock we went home to have a rest.Ho dormito per un’ora, poi siamo andati in un risporante italiano per provare qualcosa di diverso. Ho preso una pizza con formaggio italiano. Il cibo italiano e turco sono molto simili. Specialmente i sapori. E questa è stata la parte finale di questa giornata. Quando siamo tornati a casa ero così stanco che mi sono addormentato

The area was very big so our trip took a long time.In the past,Ostia was a big city with houses,gardens,public places and a theatre. Now we can just see remains.there were so many places for people to live there.at this area we saw lots of pine trees and everywhere was green. Italian teachers and students told us about Ostia.Then we went to a sourvenir shop to buy something for our friends and families. I bought lots of bookmarks for my friends.After the trip we sat in a cafe.And I felt so lucky cause the weather was wonderful! Today was the first sunny day of our Rome trip.We took a lot of photos. At 3 o clock we went home to have a rest.I slept for an hour, then we went to an Italian restaurant to taste something different.I ate pizza with Italian cheese Italian and Turkish food,they are so similar .Especially their spices. And that was the last part of this day. When we got back home, I was so tired that I slept.

Sabah biraz geç kalktım.bu yüzden kahvaltı yapamadım.Sadece turta yiyebildim.Onurla birlikte okula yürüdük.Okul otele çok yakındı.Okula geldik.İtalyanca ders başladı.Bize bir kağıt dağıttılar.İçersinde İtalyan yemekleri içecekler tatlılar vardı.Yemekleri öğrendikden sonra Bayan Giovanna İtalyanca yemek sipariş etmeyi öğretti ve İtalyan arkadaşlarımızla tahtada uygulamalı olarak yemek şipariş ettik.Biz müşteri olduk onlar garson.O gün yemek smilasyonu için restauranta gidicektik restaurant da yemek siparişi için ben seçilmiştim.Okuldaki ders bitti.Boş vaktimiz vardı.Hakanla cafeteryada oturup kahve içtik. sonra restauranta gittik.Bizim masa ögretmenlerin masasının yanındaydı.Bizim masada Ulaş,Gianluca,Marco,Federico,Hakan,Onur,Ben,Serena,Aslı,Bengi,Martina ve Victoria vardı.Öğretmenler henüz gelmemişti.Öğretmenler gelene kadar Serena ile smilasyona çalıstık.Heyecanlı değildim ama restaurant da heyecanlandım.Öğretmenler gelince yemek siparişi verdim.Ve herkes yemek yemeye başladı.Yemek lezzetliydi ilk defa doymuştum.Ardından tatlılar yedik.Böylece smilasyonu başarıyla tamamladım.Bu yüzden mutluydum.Restorantdan sonra İtalyan öğrenciler gittiler bizde bayan Giovanna ve bay Stefano ile Circus maximusa gittik.Burası antik bir hipodrom.Burada halk oyunları ve eğlenceler düzenlenirmiş.Buradan sonra Bocca Della Verita'ya gittik.Saat geç olmuştu ve de yağmur başlamıştı.Çok yorulmuştum. Bay Stefano,buradaki heykelin hikayesini anlattı.Rivayete göre yalancılar ellerini heykele soktuklarında heykelden kan akarmış.sonra otobüse bindik.Otele geldik ve lobide Nail hoca ile biraz konuştukdan sonra odaya cıktım.Çok yorgundum,duş aldım ve uyudum..

I woke up late, so I could not have my breakfast. I just ate torte. We walked to school, which was very close to hotel with Onur. When we came to school, classes started in Italian Language. They gave us some sheets which inform us about Italian foods,drinks and desserts. After we learnt about foods, Mrs Giovanna taught us how to order food in Italian. And also we trained with our Italian friends for ordering in which case we were acting like customers and they were like waiters. We planned to go a restaurant that day and I was chosen for ordering.

Dopo le lezioni abbiamo avuto un pò di tempo libero, e ho preso un caffè con Hakan. Poi siamo andati al ristorante. Ero seduto al tavolo accanto a quello degli insegnati con Ulas, Gianluca ets etc. Gli insegnanti non erano ancora arrivati, cosi abbiamo fatto pratica per le ordinazioni. Dopo l’arrivo degli insegnanti abbiamo ordinato e abbiamo mangiato. Il cibo era veramente delizioso e per la prima volta mi sono sentito veramente sazio.

Then we ate desserts and I was very happy because I pulled off my ordering simulation.
Poi abbiamo mangiato il dolce ed io sono sato molto contento perchè ho fatto bene la mia simulazione.
After the restaurant we went to Circus Maximus, which is an ancient hippodrome of many spectacular entertainments, with Mrs. Giovanna and Mr. Stefano. Afterwards we went Bocca Della Verità. I was exhausted, it was late and it was raining. Mr. Stefano told us the story of sculpture. Some believes that if any foreigner touched the sculpture, it would bleed.We came back to hotel by bus. I talked with Mr. Nail for a while and went to my room. I was really tired, I took a shower and went to bed…

Teachers had not arrived yet. We trained for ordering with Serena until they came. Actually I am not so excited but that day I was very excited .After teachers arrived, I ordered everything very well and we started to eat. Foods were really delicious and this was the first time I felt full. Then we ate deserts and I was very happy because I pulled off my ordering simulation. After the restaurant we went to Circus Maximus, which is an ancient hippodrome of many spectacular entertainments, with Mrs. Giovanna and Mr. Stefano. Afterwards we went Bocca Della Verita. Bugün, güzel ve yoğun geçecek bir gün için erkenden uyandık.Kahvaltımızı yaptıktan sonra partnerim ve ben arkadaşlarımızla buluşmak için metro istasyonuna gittik.Daha sonra hep birlikte öğretmenlerle buluşma noktasında doğru metroyla yol aldık.Buluşma noktasına ulaşıp öğretmenlerimizle görüştükten sonra Türk Büyükelçiliği’ne gittik. Roma’yı ve İtalyan arkadaşlarımı çok seviyorum, kendimi hiç yabancı bir yerde hissetmedim ama proje ekibi dışında bir Türk’le konuşmak , İtalya serüvenimizi paylaşmak farklı bir deneyimdi ve beni çok sevindirdi.Ülkemi ne kadar özlediğimi anladım. Büyükelçilikte herkes çok misafirperver ve dost canlısıydı.Bizi çok iyi karşıladılar.Büyükelçimiz Ali Yakıtal ve eşi bize güzel bir konuşma yaptılar.Ayrıca büyükelçiliğin aşçısı Ayşe Teyzeyle de tanıştık, konuştuk.Bizim için harika yiyecekler hazırlamıştı.İtalyan yemeklerini seviyorum ama Türk yemeklerini özlediğimi hatırladım.Dönüş zamanı geldiğinde duygulu anlar yaşadık.Ayşe Teyzenin gözleri doldu, bizi de ağlattı.Duygu dolu dakikalardan sonra o meşhur Aşk Çeşmesi’ne (Fontana Di Trevi) gittik.Burayı görmeyi çok istiyordum ve düşündüğümden daha da güzel olduğunu söyleyebilirim.Çok güzeldi ama çok da kalabalıktı.Buraya gelen herkes gibi ben de dilek tutup Aşk Çeşmesi’ne para attım.Sonra şarkılar söyleye söyleye Pantheon’a gittik.Pantheon , Roma’da görmeyi hevesle beklediğim yerlerden bir tanesiydi ve tek kelimeyle muhteşemdi.Pantheon’un içinde değişik fotoğraflar çekmeye çalıştık.Gezmeye doyamadım, keşke daha uzun süre kalabilseydik.Pantheon’u ziyaret ettikten sonra Navona Meydanı’na ( Piazza Navona) gittik.Burası da çok görkemli ve mutlaka görülmesi gereken yerlerden biri.Çeşmelerin mimari yapısı harikaydı.Navona Meydanı’nda birçok yeri gezdik.Ayrıca meydanda göstericiler de vardı.Hepsi çok eğlenceliydi.Daha sonra partnerlerimizle birlikte bir kafeye gittik, sonra da eve geldik.Bugün eve çok mutlu bir şekilde döndüm.Harika bir gündü.Roma’da her gün ayrı bir keyif ama bugün benim için özeldi.Hala Roma’nın başka güzelliklerini keşfedecek kadar zamanımız var.Bunu bilmek ve geçirdiğim güzel günleri düşünmek beni çok mutlu ediyor.

Oggi abbiamo avuto un programma molto ricco e molto bello. Quindi, mi sono svegliato presto e, dopo colazione, insieme alla mia partner siamo andati alla stazione della metropolitana per incontrare gli altri. Poi siamo andati al luogo dell'appuntamento insieme. La nostra destinazione era l'Ambasciata della Turchia in Italia. Amo Roma, mi piace la mia partner e la sua famiglia. Mi piacciono i miei amici Italiani, non ho mai pensato di essere uno straniero qui, ma parlare e condividere la nostra avventura in Italia con altri Turchi (oltre ai partecipanti al progetto) a Roma è stata una grande gioia per me. E mi sono resa conto che mi manca il mio paese.
In Turkish Embassy , everyone was very friendly and hospitable.Our ambassador Ali Yakıtal and his wife made a good speech to us.He and his wife were very gentle for all of us. .We met the cook of the embassy.Her name was Ayşe.She had prepared very delicious Turkish appetizers for us.I liked Italian food but I realized I had missed Turkish food very much. We talked with her for a long time.At the end of the visit, everybody had lived emotional moments.The cook criedand her crying made me cry.After that emotional moments we went to Fontana Di Trevi.It is very famous and I wanted to see it so much .It was dreamy and very lovely but also very crowded.And there is a tradition ; people throw a coin to the fountain for their wishes can become true. I threw 3 coins and made my wishes. Then we walked to Pantheon and we sang some songs all along the road. I really wanted to see the Pantheon.So, this trip was amazing for me. And I can say that It is extraordinary.We tried to take some different photos inside of it. I wish we could stay there long.After visiting Pantheon , we went to Piazza Navona.Also this place was very elegant.I think everyone should see the place.We saw a lot of different places in Piazza Navona.I liked the fountains very much.. They were very funny. Also there were some harlequins.Some artists was selling their works of art in the street .Then , we went to a cafe with our firends and partners and we came home.I was very happy .Today was perfect.In Rome, everyday is so beautiful but today was special and full of emotional moments for me.We have still time to discover Rome’s other beauties.Knowing this and thinking about my previous days in Rome makes me very happy.

Bugün saat 7:00 de uyandık.Bugün bizim için önemli bir gün.Önemli olmasının 2 sebebi var. İlk olarak 2. İtalyanca dersi diğeri ise Roma Türk Büyükelçiliğinden bazı ziyaretçilerimizle bir toplantı. Bu toplantıda bir çok İtalyan öğretmen ve başka okullardan müdürler de olacaktı.
2.italyanca dersinde rakamları ve sıfatları öğrendik ayrıca bazı yemek adlarını da öğrendik. Ders bittikten sonra toplantıya basladık.Toplantıda Büyükelçilik katiplerinden bay Efe CEYLAN
Italyan-Turk dostluk derneği başkanı Bay Engin, ortak okulumuzun müdiresi Bayan Volpicelli,müdürümüz,öğretmenler,öğrenciler ve çok sayıda misafir hazır bulundular. Herkes hazır olduğu zaman bir İtalyan öğrenci
Türkiye'de çekilen fotoğraflarımızı slayt halinde bize sundu.Bu beni mutlu etti ve onurlandırdı.
Ulaş ve Aslı’nın kendi uygulamalarını 3 Kasım’da yapmaları lazımdı ama yoğun yağmur sebebiyle onları takip edebilmemiz ve izleyebilmemiz imkansızdı.Bu yüzden bu gün onlar için büyük bir şanstı. Onlar Collesseum hakkındaki sunumlarını bu toplantı sırasında birçok yetkilinin önünde yaptılar.Çok iyilerdi, herkes onları alkışladı.Bu muhteşem yapı hakkında bilgi edinip kendi gözlerimizle görebilmek hepimiz için büyük bir şanstı.
Efe CEYLAN'la tanıştık kendisi Türkiye 3 Roma büyükelçiliğinde görevliydi.Onunla çok fazla konuştuk.Bir Türk görmek…. Belki bu ihtiyacımız olan şeydi.İtalya’da Türkçe konuşuyorduk.Bu bizi tabi ki heyecanlandırmıştı.Toplantıdan sonra bir kokteyl vardı.Kokteyldeki her yemek çok lezzetliydi. Çok sayıda ziyaretçi vardı ama hepsi sıcak kanlı ve nazik insanlardı.Bizi kendimize önemli hissettirdiler.Dünyanın bir yerinde iyi insanlar olduğunu bilmek ve onları kendi gözlerinle görmek… bence barışın gerçek anlamı bu.
Kokteylde cok eğlendik bu kokteylden sonraki öğleden sonramız boştu.Bu boş vakitte Parco Leonardo'ya gittik.Parco Leonardo büyük bir alışveriş merkeziydi Burda.ben müzik cd’leri
ve arkadaşlarım için bir kaç hediye baktım.Öğle yemeğini burada yedik.Yemekten sonra ünlü roma dondurmasının tadına baktık.Düşündüğümden daha lezzetliydi.Biraz dolaştık ve sonra evimize gittik.
Saat 7 gibi eve geldik.Yemekte mozerella peynirli makarna vardı ardından meyve ve kestane yedik.Onların yemek kültürleri bizden farklı.Her şeyden önce onların kahvaltı kültürü yok.Bu çok ilginç biz ordayken sabahları sadece tatlı şeyler yiyorduk.Akşam yemeğinde ise ana yemekten önce makarna yiyorlar ve de çok fazla balık tüketiyorlar.Bir şey beni çok şaşırttı oda Çok fazla peynirleri var.Paolo'nun babasının dediğine göre İtalya’nın her şehrinin kendine özgürü peyniri varmış.Bu inanılmaz çünkü bizim de neredeyse her şehrin farklı peyniri var.
Yemek boyunca eğlenceli bir sohbet oldu.Futboldan Türkiye'den İtalya'dan bir çok şeyden bahsettik.Kültürlerimizin birbirine benzer olduğunun farkına vardık çünkü onlar da bizim gibi misafirperver ve sıcakkanlı insanlar. Bu projede olduğum için ve de İtalya'da olduğum için çok mutluyum.Yemekten sonra biraz hava almak için bahçeye çıktım bu arada İtalya'da nerdeyse tüm evlerin bahçesi var.Yapıtları mükemmel derecede ve de tarihi kalıntıları hiç dokunulmamış.Sonra ailemle konuştum.Duş aldım ve saat 12:30 gibi yatağa girdim.Yazmak istediğim son şey ise: İTALYA’YI SEVİYORUM.

Oggi era un giorno importante per noi. C’erano due ragioni per questo. Primo, avevamo la nostra seconda lezione di italiano a scuola, e l’altro era un incontro importante con alcune autorità dell’Ambasciata Turca a Roma e con molti insegnanti italiani e presidi di altre scuole di Roma.
Alla seconda lezione di italiano, abbiamo imparato i numeri e alcuni aggettivi utili per noi. Abbiamo imparato anche i vocaboli del cibo. Finita la lezione, abbiamo avuto un incontro formale con autorità dell’Ambasciata Turca in Italia, il signor Efe Ceylan, capo dell’Organizzazione Amicizia Italia-Turchia , con il signor Engin, con la preside signora Volpicelli, il nostro preside, insegnanti, studenti e molti ospiti. Quanti tutti erano pronti, uno studente italiano ci ha mostrato le foto fatte in Turchia al computer, come sfondo. Questo mi ha reso orgoglioso e felice. Abbiamo incontrato il signor Efe Ceylan, che era un impiegato all’Ambasciata Turca a Roma. Abbiamo parlato molto con lui. Incontrare un turco, forse era ciò di cui avevamo bisogno.
Stavamo parlando turco in Italia con un turco come noi. Questo ci ha emozionato, naturalmente. Dopo l’incontro c’è stato un cocktail.
At the cocktail everyting was delicious.There were a lot of visitors..They were all friendly and kind They made us feel important.To know there is good people around the world and seeing them, i think, that’s what peace meansWe had fun at cocktail and after the cocktail there was free afternoon.At this free time we went to Parco Leonardo. It was a big shopping centre.I looked for some music cdies and some presents for my friends. We had lunch there and after lunch we tasted the famous roman ice-cream.It was more delicious than I thought. We walked around a bit and went home. We arrived home at 7 o'clock. There was pasta mozzarella with some vegetables at dinner. Then fruit and chestnuts. La loro cultura alimentare è diversa dalla nostra. Prima di tutto non hanno la colazione. Questo è molto interessante, a Roma mangiamo solo dolci per colazione. A cena mangiano la pasta prima della portata principale e mangiano molto pesce. Una cosa che mi ha sorpreso è che hanno molti formaggi. Il papà di Paolo mi ha detto che ogni città d’Italia ha il suo formaggio, è incredibile.
During the dinner we had a funny conversation we talked about football,Turkey,Italy and many other things. We figured out our culture was similar to each other because they were all hospitable and friendly like us. Seeing somebody like me in another country I’ m glad that I am in this project and I’ m glad I am in Italy. After dinner I went to garden to have some fresh air. By the way nearly every house in rome has a garden.Their buildings are nearly perfect and their historical ruins are mostly not touched. Then I talked with my family, had a shower and went to bed at about 12:30. The last thing I want to write is that İ love Italy.

Today we woke up at seven o'clock.Today was an important day for us.There were two reasons for this.First, we had our second Italian course at school and the other one was an important meeting with some authorities from Turkish Embassy in Rome and a lot of Italian teachers and headmasters from other schools in Rome. At the second Italian lesson we learnt numbers and some adjectives which were useful for us.We also learnt food names. After we finished the lesson, we had a formal meeting with an authority from Turkish Embassy of Italy-Mr Efe Ceylan ,head of Turk-Italian Friendship Organization Mr. Engin, headteacher Mrs. Volpicelli, our headmaster, teachers, students and lots of guests. When everybody was ready, an Italian student showed us photos taken in Turkey as slide show. That made me proud and happy.
Ulaş and Aslı should have done their simulations on the third of November.But because of the heavy rainIt was impossible for us to follow them and listen to them.
So,today was a chance for them to present their work.They did their presentation about the Colosseum in front of the formal authorities.They were brilliant and everybody applauded them.Learning the facts about this great monument,seeing the place with our own eyes was a great chance for all of us
We met with Mr. Efe Ceylan who was a clerk at the Turkish Embassy of Rome..We talked with him alot.Seeing a Turk, maybe that was what we need. We were talking Turkish in Italy with a Turk like us.That made us excited of course.After the meeting there was a cocktail for us. Sabah erken kalktım. Çünkü günlük programa göre Kolezyum en baştaydı ve evimizden çok uzaktı. Hızlı bir kahvaltı yaptıktan sonra tren istasyonuna gittik. Kolezyum’a çok yakın olan buluşma noktasına tren ile gittik.
Kolezyum’a vardığımızda çok etkilenmiştim. Son derece büyük, kocaman bir yapıydı. İçeri girerken çok heyecanlıydık. Hava yağmurluydu. Yağmur altında rehberlik yapmanın çok zor olduğunu biliyordum ancak kimse pes etmedi ve adım adım gezimize devam ettik. Kolezyum hakkında İtalyanca bilgiler öğrendik. Bir kısmı İtalyanca bir kısmı İngilizce olmak üzere bir konuşma yaptım. Daha sonra ünlü cadde Via del Corso’ya geçtik. Orada pek çok restoran ve mağaza mevcuttu. Bir miktar alışveriş yaptık ve alışveriş merkezinde dinlendik. Öğretmenim ve bazı arkadaşlarım kayboldular. Beni aradılar. Partnerim ve ben onları bulmak üzere yola koyulduk. On dakika içinde birbirimizi bulduk. Bu da beni heyecanlandıran bir diğer olaydı.
Via del Corso’dan sonra İspanyol Merdivenleri’nin bulunduğu meydana geçtik. Yukarıya doğru çıkan merdivenlere oturduk ve dinlendik. Meydandaki heykelin ağzından akan soğuk suyu içtim. Programın harika ama aynı zamanda yorucu olduğunu düşünüyorduk. Ancak duramazdık ve durmadık da.
Daha sonra Popolo Meydanı’na gittik. Partnerim bana o meydanla ilgili bilgiler verdi. Meydanın etrafında yürüdük. Bana meydan hakkında ilginç hikâyeler anlattı. Birkaç saat sonra evlerimize geri döndük. Çok yorduk hissediyordum. Evde leziz bir İtalyan yemeği yedik. Annemi ve babamı, Roma’da ne kadar mutlu olduğumu söylemek üzere aradım. Benim haberlerimi aldıkları için mutluydular. Birkaç dakika sonra uykuya geçtik. Gerçekten çok mutluydum.

I woke up early in the morning. Because according to daily programme colosseum was at the top and it was far from our home. After we had a quick breakfast, we went to the station. We went the meeting point, which was very close to colosseum, by train.
Quando siamo arrivati al Colosseo, sono rimasto impressionato. E' una struttura veramente enorme. Eravamo tutti eccitati quando siamo entrati. Purtroppo pioveva. So che farci la guida, e sotto la pioggia, poi, è veramente difficile, ma nessuno ha rinunciato ed abbiamo seguito ogni passo della visita. Abbiamo imparato alcune cose sul Colosseo, anche in Italiano.io stesso ho fatto un discorso, parte in Italiano e parte in Inglese. Poi siamo andati in una strada famosa di Roma, Via del Corso. C'erano tanti negozi e ristoranti. Ci siamo riposati in un centro commerciale. La mia insegnante ed alcuni amici si sono persi. Poi mi hanno chiamato al telefono. Io e il mio compagno li abbiamo ritrovati. Ci siamo ritrovati in pochi minuti. Questa è stata un'altra cosa che mi ha eccitato molto.After Via del Corso we went to Spagna and Venezia Square. There were stairs going up. We sit and had rest there. I drank cold water coming from the mouth of the statue in the square. We thought that the programme is very nice but tiring at the same time. But we couldn’t stop and didn’t. Then we went to the Popolo Square. My partner gave me some information about the square. We walked around the square. He told me some interesting stories about the square. After a few hours we went back our homes. I felt so much tired. We had a delicios Italian dinner at home. I called my mum and dad to tell them how happy I am was Rome. They were happy because they were getting my news.
A few minutes later we went to sleep. I was so happy.

I made a speech partly in Italian and partly in English. Then we went to the long famous street, Via del Corso. There were lots of shops lots of restaurants. We did some shopping. We had a rest at a shopping centre. My teacher and some of my friends were lost. They called me. My partner and I went to find them. We found each other in ten minutes. That was another thing which made me excited.After Via del Corso we went to Spagna and Venezia Square. There were stairs going up. We sit and had rest there. November 2nd 2009 - Arca Alpan

Sabah erken kalktık ve okula gittik. Sınıfımız herhangi bir sınıf değildi. Büyük ve rahat bir yerdi. Çünkü biz proje takımıydık. Derste İtalyan Alfabesini ve bazı İtalyanca sözcükleri öğrendik.
Bunun ardından, İtalyanca öğretmenimiz bize İtalya ve İtalyan Kültürü hakkında bir anket verdi. Dersten sonra okul bahçesinde öğle yemeğimizi yedik.
Öğle yemeğinden sonra metroyla St. Pietro Basilikası’na gittik. Metro hızlıydı ama çok kalabalıktı.
Metrodan çıktıktan sonra Risorgimento Meydanı’dan geçtik. Burasının İstanbul’daki Taksim Meydanı’na benzediğini düşündüm. Çünkü meydana bitişik büyük bir duvar ve tramvay vardı.
St. Pietro’da ilk gördüğümüz sütunlardı. Ardından meydan: iki çeşme var. Ve çatı aziz heykelleriyle dolu. Kapılarda da İsviçre Muhafızları bekliyordu.
Basilikanın içinde bizi karşılayan büyük kapı ve Michelangelo’nun Pieta’sıydı. Sonra yürümeye devam ettikçe her yerde harika heykeller olduğunu gördüm. Hepsine tek tek bakmak istedim ama bu çok yorucu olurdu. Çünkü burası dünyanın en büyük basilikalarından biri.
Geziden sonra eve geldik ve parti için hazırlanmaya başladık. Lolo’nun doğum günüydü. Annesi lezzetli makarna ve pizalar pişirdi.
Davetliler gelince parti başladı. Bütün gece dans ettik ve harika bir parti oldu.

In the early morning, we went to school.
Our class wasn’t a normal one, it was large and very comfortable place. Because we were the project team.
We learnt Italian Alphabeth and some Italian words in the lesson.
After that, our Italian teacher gave us a questionniare about Italy and Italian Culture
Then we had our lunch in the school garden with our friends.
After lunch , We went to St. Peter’s Basilica by underground. Underground was really fast but also very crowded.
When we exited from the underground, we crossed Piazza(square) del Risorgimento. I thought, that place really looks like Taksim Square in Istanbul. Beacuse there was a huge wall near the square.
First things we saw about St. Pietro were columns.

Le Guardie Svizzere si prendono cura della sicurezza del Vaticano.
Inside the Basilica, first thing which was greeting us was the gate and Michelangelo’s Pietà on the right.
All’interno della Basilica ciò che ci ha colpito è stata la porta e la Pietà di Michelangelo, appena si entra sul lato destro.
When we move on, I saw all around was full of amazing sculptures.
Quando ci muovevamo notavo che era pieno di splendide sculture.
I tried to take a look all of them, but it was too tiring. Because this basilica is one of the biggest basilicas in the world.
After the trip, we came back home and got ready for the party, beacuse it was Lolo’s birthday. His mother cooked delicious pizzas and pasta.
We danced all night and we had a great party.

In the early morning, we went to school. Our classroom wasn’t a normal one, it was large and very comfortable place. Because we were the project team. We learnt Italian Alphabeth and some Italian words in the lesson.
After that, our Italian teacher gave us a questionniare about Italy and Italian Culture. Then we had our lunch in the school garden with our friends.
After lunch , We went to St. Peter’s Basilica by underground. Underground Transportain is really fast but also very crowded.
When we exited from the underground, we crossed Piazza(square) del Risorgimento. I thought, that place really looks like Taksim Square in Istanbul. Beacuse there was a tram and a huge wall near the square.
First things we saw about St. Pietro were columns. There were two fountains in St.Pietro square. The roof was full of sculptures of saints. The Swiss Guards keep and save the Vatican.

Saat 6.30’da kalktım, çantamı ve diğer eşyalarımı hazırladım. Daha sonra ailem ile ben Türkiye’deki son kahvaltımızı yaptık. Çok heyecanlıydım. Çünkü, bu benim ilk yurtdışı seyahatimdi. Kahvaltımızı bitirdiğimizde evden çıktık. Otobüse bindik.

Okula vardığımızda, önce arkadaşlarım ve onların aileleriyle buluştum. Onlarla sohbet ettim. Çok heyecanlıydılar. Bazı arkadaşlarım için hayatlarındaki ilk yurtdışı seyahatiydi. Örneğin Duygu iki kat heyecanlıydı. Çünkü bu onun ilk yurtdışı seyahati ve ilk uçak yolculuğuydu. Herkes çok mutluydu. Ağlayan kimse görmedim.

Atatürk Havaalanına gitmek için yola çıktık. Havaalanına vardığımızda öğretmenlerimiz bize havaalanı prosedürleri hakkında önemli bilgiler verdiler. Sonra bazı rutin işleri yaptık.
İlk rotamız Zürih’ti. Çünkü aktarmalı uçuş yapacaktık. Uçuş mükemmel ve konforlu geçti. İyi vakit geçirdik, UNO ve benzeri oyunlar oynadık uçakta. Zürih havaalanına vardığımızda tekrar bazı rutin işleri yerine getirdik. Ve son istikametimiz Roma’ydı.

I woke up at 6.30 and I prepared my bag and other things. Then my family and I together ate our the last breakfast in Turkey. I was very excited. Because, it was my first travel abroad. When we finished our breakfast we left home. We got on the bus.
When we arrived at school, first I met my friends and their families. I talked with them. They were very excited. This travel was the first travel abroad in their life for many of my friends. For example Duygu was double excited, because it was her first travel abroad and first airplane travel. Everybody was very happy. I didn't see anybody crying.
Quando siamo arrivati a scuola, ho incontrato per prima cosa i miei amici e le loro famiglie. Ho parlato con loro. Erano molto emozionati. Questo viaggio era il primo viaggio all’estero della loro vita per molti dei miei amici. Per esempio, Duygu era doppiamente emozionata, perché era il suo primo viaggio all’estero e il suo primo volo dull’aereo. Tutti erano molto felici. Non ho visto nessuno piangere.
We set off for Atatürk Airport. When we arrived at the airport our teachers gave us important information about airport procedures. Then we made some routine work there.
Our first route was Zurich. Because we had a transferred flight. Flight passed excellent and comfortable. We had a nice time on the plane, we played UNO and etc.
When we landed on the airport of Zurich, we made routine work again. And our last destination was Rome.
When we arrived in Rome, the Italian teachers welcomed us. It was very friendly. Because they had opened a banner for us to recognize them. First we shook hands with them. Then we got on the bus to go to Beethoven Hotel where we met with Italian students and their families. I met Francesco and his family, it was my first meeting with them. Francesco hadn’t been to Turkey as he had had some health problems. I had hosted Tiziano instead of him. Now I had two hosting families in Rome! Then i met Tiziano and his family.
Quando siamo arrivati a Roma, gli insegnanti italiani ci hanno dato il benvenuto. E’ stato molto piacevole. Perché avevano un poster aperto per noi, per riconoscerli. Prima ci siamo stretti le mani, poi siamo saliti sull’autobus per andare all’Hotel Beethoven, dove ci siamo incontrati con gli studenti italiani e con le loro famiglie. Ho conosciuto Francesco e la sua famiglia. E’ stato il mio primo incontro con loro. Francesco non era stato in Turchia, poiché aveva avuto alcuni problemi di salute. Avevo ospitato Tiziano al posto suo. Ora io avevo due famiglie ospiti a Roma! Poi ho incontrato Tiziano e la sua famiglia.
After the meeting, we went to Francesco’s home. I had a surprise. When we opened the door of the house, a dog jumped on me!
First, I put my bags and washed my hands. The family was in the kitchen waiting for me. I gave my gifts to them Gifts were copper sugar bowl, Turkish delight and our beautiful city Kocaeli’s famous sweet: pişmaniye. They were very happy. Their kitchen was very sweet. Dinner’s main food was “tagliolini”. We ate this one. It was delicious, i liked it. Then we talked a lot. They served fruits and sweets.
When we finished our meals, Francesco and i went to his room. He played the guitar and I used computer. I talked with my mother and father on the Internet.
We went to bed at 11.
It was a great day.
